I was looking over the Joel Mize site and the 56 Cagle's listed with the first Alabama Cavalry. In looking over the site I would have to surmise that the Cagle names listed were not members of the unit, but were probably dependents of members of the 1st Alabama. Many of the Cagle names are women and children, some having been born in 1859 and later. At the present time we only know of 5 Cagles serving in that unit, with a possibility of 2 others whose names were misspelled. The 5 we know for sure are listed on our Civil War Page http://www.angelfire.com/pa/civilwarcagle Thanks and if anyone has more information I'd appreciate your sending it on. Tom Cagle Saegertown, PA
Hi List, I updated the Civil War site once again and at the urging of our sons added a photo of two very new Civil War Soldiers. The two soldiers are Brian and Jeff Cagle, my sons, who are Civil Ear Re-enactors. I added a paragraph on the home page about their re-enactment unit and a link from the home page to the re-enactment photo. Doyle, J.R. SAYLOR and Mollie A. CAGLE ("Nollie" is presumably a misspelling); (she was also known as "MaryAn CAGLE) who were married in Marshall County, AL on 9/29/1878 were my Great-Grandparents. They are buried at the Mt. Oak Cemetery in the Ruth Community near Arab, AL in Marshall County. Thanks............ Joyce Saylor/Jones
Dear Cagle Researchers, As I have found Joel Mizes Site and Personal geneology a great Boon in my research for Cagles and my own Geneology,I was asked to Post the Site to the Cagles mailing list,by Froglady2@worldnet.att.net................So I am going to post it now.Remembering the Copyright Laws, I urge you all to Look at this wonderful List of the 1st Alabama Cavalry. Personal Genealogy Home Page. Just scroll down to the Surname in question.
