In 1850, this family was in Carroll Co., TN and later moved to Benton Co., TN where John is buried. Members of the family moved to adjacent counties and elsewhere. Henry Co., TN is immediately north of Benton Co. John G. Cagle speculates that John was the son of George Cagle, d. 1825 Montgomery Co. NC. Nancy: Thanks for coming to my rescue again. I see what was confusing me now. Look at paragraph 8 of this message as relates to Lindey Cagle b. 1828. The notes portion of this paragraph gives the 1800 Census for Moore county and begins with Linsey age 52. This is apparantly "Lindey" and if you add his age to Lindey's date of birth, you will come up with 1880. So, the census is for the year 1880 instead of 1800. Am I right? Or, is this a different person than the Lindey b. 1828? Nancy, on another subject, I have been trying to find the connection for John Riley Cagle, who married Clara Mabel Standridge. They had one child that I am aware of who married Goldie Cagle, b. April 12, 1920. I understand this is your line and you may have the information I need. To make the connection I need John Riley Cagle's date and place of birth, etc, plus who was his father? There was a John Riley Cagle b. Mar 3, 1858 but, he died May 27, 1861. He can't be this one. Every caddie had two banners on the back of their vests. One had the name of the golfer for whom he was caddying. The other said "Cagle's". Since those banners normally are an advertising item, I can only assume that it was the name of some business. The tournament was played in Wilmington, Delaware. Virginia, Looks like you have done a lot of work. I have a question or two. I have not seen information on the death of "Old" Leonhart. I never knew if he died in PA or NC. Moore Co., NC was not established until 1784, that was Cumberland Co. until that time. Do we know for sure he died in NC? Where did the 1724 birth date for John "Dutchman" come from?
