Hi List, The attachment has an address for the official Microsoft "fix" for computers using their CPU. It is free and something from MS for free is special. Pass the info around as I have not seen it in the newspaper or on TV. It was not difficult to download and add on but come December I bet it will take lots of time. Re The Cagles: I was at the McClung Historical Research Center in Knoxville, TN and found a book entitled "Cagle Family in the South to 1850", Vol. 1 NC. Is this is good starter source for Cagle research? Jay Childress
Greg: They are both the same person, actually I think he was christened as Johann Dewalt Theobald Kegel. After arriving in this country it was shortened to David Cagle. He is most often referred to as Johann Theobald "David" Cagle. I am new at computers and don't know how to cut and paste but, if you don't get a response from someone who can, then let me know and I will hunt and peck you the rest of the information you are needing. John: I have a Charles b. 1746 in Rowan County, NC; d. 1801 in Stanly County, NC. I have him with a son George b. 1789. I have no idea who the wife of the George was but, I show him with only two children. It is possible he had more than two and your George may be one of them. Now if we can prevail upon Nancy Jane to check her books and give us a rundown on Charles b. 1746, with an eye toward his son George b. 1789, we may solve the puzzle or rather, Nancy will. Dear Kin, I am confused about the father and grandfather of John Cagle b. 1747 who married Mary circa 1769. One e-mail stated the father was Johan Thobald "David" Kegal and the grandfather was Leonhart "Leonard" Kegell. Another e-mail referred to David Dewalt Cagle, b. Apr 29, 1728, Germany. Are these two "Davids" the same? Also I would like to know the birth, death, and marriage of the father and grandfather above. Any children would also be appreciated. Thanks Greg
Bertha: I never listed Opal in the Timber Ridge Cemetery which I believe is at Catoosa in Rogers County. Catoosa is about 10 miles east of Tulsa. Coweta is SE of Tulsa about 25 miles and is in Wagoner County. I live at Moore, OK which is midway between Oklahoma City and Norman going South. What information do you have. I suspect Opal was born in Galena, Stone County, Missouri. All I have on her is her name. I might could find her in a census at the library. What was her husbands name in 1920? Have you any idea where she was living in 1920? Do you have the date of her death and burial at Timber Ridge Cemetery? I will be glad to help you if I can but, both Coweta and Catoosa are a good distance from me. I have a cousin who lives in Tulsa that I might can coerse into going there. I would suggest Dewalt for David since it was his name and he was German, not English. and Johannes for "Dutchman" for the same reason. I don't think it is proper to deny their heritage any longer. John, I can't offer much help with George, but I have a question about those ancestors before George. 1. George4 Cagle (Henry3, Johann Daywalt "David"2, Leonhart1 Kegel) as you have listed below. Johann Dewalt "David"2 or Henry 3, one or the other, does not belong in this line. David had a son Henry Cagle Sr who was enumerated in the 1790 census of Mecklenburg Co., NC. He lived in that part that became Cabarrus Co. in 1792. This Henry Cagle, Sr. had a son George, but he lived in Cabarrus Co. in 1820 and was living in Hardin Co., TN by 1830 and died ca 1839-40 in New Madrid Co. MO. David (2) also had a son George that lived and died ca 1825 in Montgomery Co., NC. John "Dutchman" Cagle(2) and Henry Cagle, Sr (2) both had sons named George who were probably born in Moore Co. Henry (2) had a son George (3) 1782-1864 that lived and died in Moore Co. that appear to be the George you are looking for. I don't believe David Cagle(2) fits into your line. Keep up the good work. List: Thanks. I don't know what the problem was. I complained to the postmaster of Juno and almost immediately received 27 emails including my test message I sent myself from my net address. Then, when I returned from dancing. I checked email again and had an additional 13 so, I guess whatever the problem was, it is corrected. No explanation from Juno. Thanks to all who responded and there were many. Lee Cagle Moore, Ok 10-27-36 ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
