Wouldn't it also, follow "Essary" is most likely the maiden name of Hannah and that "Pitts" is most likely the surname of a previous husband of Hannah's? Can you streighten us out on this, as well? Dianne: I do not save messages. I don't recall which George H. is yours. I just ran a Report on Leonhart back to George, which includes the linage of all his children it is 27 pages just for these four generations. Maybe if you will be more specific, I can run down the information, transcribe it, and send it to you via e-mail. If however, you want the whole file from George H. back to Leonhart, I will have to mail it to you. No, I never did figure out how to transfer what is on the screen to e-mail. It has a statement saying it could not be done. That I would have to find something called MAP132dll, something about system root~\system directory, add[mail]WIN.INI file w/entry CMCDLLMAIL=\MAPl.REL\MAP132.dll. I have no idea what all this means. Ultimately, I think it is telling me my computer is not set up for this and I will have to make some entry someplace, so that it can do it. So, I am still stuck with copying information in long hand and then typing it into email. Maybe, the next time my grandson is here from Texas, I can get him to do this for me. Sorry, I stand corrected. BLUSH !!!!!. I checked the Atlas and even called the post office. In fact, it was the post office who suggested it was Beggs. I guess this is one way to learn which county it is in. Thanks, goes to both LaMona and Dewianne Hall for making this correction. Especially Dewianne Hall, who added a bit of personal history which I will note on my notes pages of Family Tree Maker. Joseph, You also need "Cagle Census Records of the South, 1790 to 1850" also by John G. Cagle and you are in business. With the book you mentioned below, there is none better. Greg, There is only one Johan Theobald Dewalt "David" Cagle, b. 29 April 1728 Germany, son of Leonhart "Leonard" Cagle, b. 1684 Germany. We probably should use David2, David (2) or David, b. 1728. There is a lot of confusion with all those names and he keeps getting confused with his brother, John "Dutchman" Cagle. Is John Cagle, b. 1747, the same as John who died in Robertson Co., TN in 1826? His mother, Amy Elizabeth Gentry's parents were well to do farmers living on the James River in Galena, Stone County, Missouri . When Willis Caroson's father Henry Carson Cagle died, His mother Elizabeth re-married, Willis didn't get along with his new step father , so when he was 9, years old, he walked from Galena, to Clarsville, Indian Territory to find his older brother Allen. Willis married Bertha in 1901. We've heard the stories of his drinking and gambling but Margaret says, Bertha didn't take to much off him, she didn't allow drinking or gambling in their house. She did catch Willis drunk one time either tied him to the bed or sewed him up in the sheets and whipped the daylights out of him. Another time he came home drunk, riding his horse in the pouring rain, he fell off the horse in a puddle in front of the house, Bertha just went back inside, locked the doors and left him laying there . Willis eventually stopped the drinking and gambling and wouldn't let anybudy on the place who was drinking. Story and information from Caroline Bruer Berry. Have copy of marriage license.
