It may well be that at least one more or perhaps even two more wives can be found in the new Missouri Marriage Index site. I had Henry P as being married to Catherine Stokes and of her being the mother of my g-grandmother Laura M. Cagle b c1778 in IL. My cousin Rhonda, a younger daughter of Laura's last living child, told me that her Mom was not sure if Laura's father was a Stokes or a Warner. She said it may be the other way around. In the new site we find H.P. Cagle m Catherine Warner 8 24 1865. This fits with the gap in the birth of his children as the 1870 census has a 7 year period of no births. The county of the marriage, Johnson Co., is the same location where Henry P's brother Isaac R. was found living in 1880. Moreover there are a couple of marriages for Isaac R. in the new index. Besides Catherine there is a marriage for H. P. Cagle to Mary J. Cagle on 4 2 1864. Did he perhaps remarry the first wife, Mary Priest, who was the mother of the son James. It seem there must have been at least three marriages, but could have even been a 4th. Cagle for 1860 for Henry P. , he must have been married 2nd time with the older children , Catherine was to young to have these children and Henry P. and & Mary Priest Cagle only had one child James. This is what I have. I will change my Stokes to Warner , looks like it would be the correct one to me also, fits right in with the children. by the way there are two Henry P's the other Henry P. is the son of Littleton Young Cagle and Lucinda Catherine Ross. but he was not married to a Mary?? War vet, who was the son of David (Dewalt) Cagle a son of Leonhart. Jacob died in Warren Co Tennessee as did his son Henry the father of Henry P and Isaac R. Cagle. These brothers lived (1850) in Alabama (Lawrence Co.) before moving to IL. Henry P Cagle moved from Johnson Co IL to Scott Co in MO for the 1870 census but was back in IL (Alexander Co) by the 1880 census. Isaac R. is still in Johnson Co in the 1880 census. Hi list, Nancy Janes data, and the Marriage Data Base John sent, give us the marriage for them. This shows Leonard Cagle to Margaret Nave, who married in Christian Co; Il; on 5-26-1859. So now we can identify who Margaret's, maiden name was. Although I didn't check I am sure there were other marriages, to match to these census records. Nice work on the Illinois Cagle census records. Tom and List - All I know is that Union and Montgomery Counties in Illinois were major destinations for NC to Illinois migrations 1815-1850 - a lot from the Piedmont section in NC - particularly Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Catawba, and Davidson Cos. And many, many of these NC-IL migrants to these counties were German (and not very likely to be Quakers (the latter from NC had a decided tendency to migrate to Indiana primarily and to Ohio secondarily. Good Morning List, Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather! I was looking at the marriage lists for Illinois and I have a question about the Cagle's who came to Illinois. Where did they come from? I have been corresponding with some Kagle's whose family moved around PA and ended up in Ohio and Illinois. The Kagle's who went to Illinois from PA also show up as Cagle's. Permit me to ramble with some follow-up questions! Did Cagle's who can be linked to Leonhart's lines end up in IL? If so who are they? If there are also Kagle's who moved from PA to IL are they a new line or are they somehow connected to Leonhart as well? Are we dealing with two different Cagle/Kagle lines in IL? Of course this dosen't tell you what county in Missouri. This can cause problems trying to track someone in an earlier census. Such a case is my g-grandmother Mary A.Cagle, which the 1900 census shows her b. Feb. 1860 in Arkansas. However, we go back to not knowing in what county they were born. Mary A.Cagle, is listed under this name on her marriage certificate of 7-24-1877, Oregon Co; Mo. So my case may be a cousin who married a cousin. April 1755, near the head waters of Deep River in NC. We have his exact data of death, which isn't often found. He died we presume in Warren Co; Tn; on August 14, 1845. He along with a few brothers were some of the early pioneers of Warren Co; Tn. We also know from his pension record that his wife was, Sarah. Then it also gives the year of marriage of 1820, in Buncombe Co; NC. For those on our list who are ancestors of his I would check for a Last Will & Testament from Warren Co; Tn. This if he left a will, would give data as to his wife and children. We know also that Jacob, Charles, & Valentine Cagle, were in Warren Co Tn; by 1812. Jacob Cagle, appeared in the 1800 census of Moore Co; NC. page 219 Cagle, Jacob 3 1 1 0 1 2 0 0 0 1 He also appears on Warren Co; Tn; in 1820, and 1840, his last census. I don't have any census data for Warren Co; Tn; for 1810 & 1830. The key to finding more on him & his family, is as I said from a will. Then to it would help to find his & Sarah's marriage record for 1820. His pension record as I stated earlier shows they were married in Buncombe Co; NC. He then appears on the census of Warren Co; Tn; for 1820. He would have been about 65 years old when he married, Sarah Cagle. This makes me question their year of marriage, as I have not seen the hand written pension application. This Sarah Cagle, would have been a second and maybe a third wife. Looking at the 1800 census, clearly shows him with an older woman & seven children. There is alot we know about Jacob Cagle, but still more to learn. Earl

Hi Group & Joseph I would like to know more about Henry, who was son of Jacob's 1755-1845 , I must have some errors in my Jacob's, Henry could all of you look and see what I have done wrong here, Its hard to find info on Jacob , I did find a family member of one of Jacob's daughter Sarah Ann Cagle b. 1790, she married a Robert Lewis, have names of children , but that is about all. and can't find address of person who sent it to me.
