About a week ago Earl sent out the following: "Tennessee CSA deaths in Union Prisons" transcribed by Carolyn M.Bartels Cagle, W.C. pvt. 51st. Inf. Co. D 31 Dec 1864 Camp Chase CSA Cemetery, near Columbus, Oh I have been doing some research trying to determine if this W.C. Cagle with the 51st Tennessee Co. D is the same as William Cagle I have with the 51st Tennessee Co. A. My suspicion is that they are one and the same but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if they are the same person or not? I'd like to add the additional information if it is the same person. If not or if there is no way to tell for sure I'll add another name to the Civil War List. Also, in your research, if you do find that two or more individuals listed on the Civil War list are the same, please let me know. The way Civil War records were kept the names often came from muster rolls and the a clerk taking the roll might make name changes from one time to the next. Thanks! Tom Cagle Saegertown, PA

Earl: and list I took you advice I saved the Archives in my Favorite file (book marked) At first I searched through the Archives until my eyes near popped. Finally it hit me. I went back Cagle Archives I put in the word Moravian a word from my story,and the year within seconds I found it. Maybe there is hope for me. I have watched and saw other Cagle fans crash and loose their most valuable documents. Well Nancy Jane and I took someone's good advice. We did buy us a ZipDisk with removable 100mg disk. Hi Everyone and Happy Halloween Week! I just wanted to follow-up on Doyles comments about the free server space at rootsweb. After he first sent out the information I became intrigued enough to look into it and after a little coaching I posted my family information. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was quite simple and since posting I find it to be a powerful research tool. I have been able to search on the various family names in my database and compare them to the listings that come up in other peoples databases. I was able to make a connection on my mother's side of the family that moves one line back to Germany in the 1500's. I have also uncovered some other possible connections in other lines. I would encourage all of you to utilize this new service, whether for posting your own family or for research. Earl and list, I agree, Earl with your comments about backing up files, I recently had a genealogy program crash and lost all my source notes and reference notes. I was able to restore, from backup disks, most names, but not the notes. They vanished totally. I am slowly replacing them from my paper files , but with well over 6700 names, it's a very slow task. In the second comment about the RootsWeb archives: I now have added the new RootsWeb freepages to my websites, I also have uploaded the gedcom of surnames to the WorldConnect program there. Yesterday we passed the 3 million mark of names entered. It's an excellent search engine for any surname entered. It connects all gedcoms in the program, and lists names for search and downloading information to anyone. I have discovered already several new contacts in my surnames, and especially the Cagle family. I highly reccommend it. It's very easy to navigate and retrieve information. Hello List, While doing some research a few days ago I came across a few things. As most of us on the list know Jacob, Charles, and Valentine Cagle, settled in Warren Co; Tn. >From the book "Genealogical Abstracts from Tennessee Newspapers 1803-1812". by Sherida K. Eddlemon. Warren Co; Tn. Charles Cagle, on the Colins River, has taken up a black horse. On June 30, 1810, the horse was given an appraised value of $2. This of course places Charles Cagle, living there in 1810. Wouldn't it be nice if you could buy a horse for $2 or less now?:) This data will be of interest to Tom Cagle, who has the nice Cagle's in the Civil War site. This is some additional data that gives some dates, and Susan Catherine's, maiden name. Susan Catherine Cagle (Sharp) b.1854, Monroe Co; Tn. She married Elijah Cagle b.1841, Sevier Co; Tn. They were married in 1889, in Montgomery Co; Tn. This appears to be his families listing from the 1850 Tennessee Census: Cagle, George 38, Mary 41, Elizabeth 21, Celia 18, Mary 16, James 14, George 12, Jessie 9, Elijah 7, John 5, Mathew 2, NC NC Sevier Co. 844-891 This looks also like it is their marriage: George Cagle married Polly Latham August 2, 1829. John listed as in his 30s in 1840, was identical to John D. cagle of the 1850 Warren County, census ; this John who was born in 1800, earlie had appeared in the 1830 census of Bledsoe Co. TN. David Cagle, p.357, above , later appeared in the 1850 census of Warren County, TN. It seems likely that David, in 1840, was the male listed as being in his 30s; the older male (in his 50s) in the same house hold was presumably Davids father Charles Cagle , who died in Warren Co. in the 1840s. Hill who married Eliza J. Cagle in Warren Co., TN. I believe this is likely Andrew Jackson HILL, b. April 25, 1816 in Warren Co., TN, son of Henry John Alexander HILL, b. Feb. 7, 1774 NC, d. Aug. 1, 1825 Warren Co., TN, and his longtime paramour Polly Johnson b. Jan. 19, 1787, d. April 18, 1870 Warren Co., TN. This would also make Andrew Jackson Hill the grandson of Isaac Hill, Sr., b. July 22, 1748, d. July 28, 1825, and his wife Lucinda Wallace, b. 1746, d. Sept. 23, 1798 Warren Co., TN.
