Guten Tag, It's a great summer day here in PA for late fall. Usually we have snow by now. Several months ago I got a copy of the will of one Henry Kegel probated in Northampton CO, PA in 1789. Since that time I have tried several avenues to get it translated. I sent it to my old German professor in college and he was unable to decipher much of it and suggested I send it to Germany to be translated. Well I used some connections and sent it through my wifes company to the German sales rep. He tried and showed it to his grandmother and neither one of them could make it out. It seems that it is done in an old style of german that they cannot read. He was going to try a German University language department. To make a long story short, it isn't translated yet...so I have posted a copy of the first page on the web. If any of you would like to take a shot at it, please do so. Cagle cousins: Hi this is LaMona I forgot I had my mothers old Franklin County Burial Association Cards J.T. Greer & Son sent out postcards quarterly everyone that died during that time were listed. I don't have them all some were ate up by mice my very first card starts with April 30th 1944 up to 1991 after mother died I don't have. Anyone know a Sherod W. Cagle? My gg-grandparents, Charles & Susan Stokes, sold land to Sherod W. Cagle on January 18, 1866. The land sold was located in Marion Co., AL but the deed was recorded in Massac Co., IL as that's where Charles was living at the time. Land description: the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 & NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 34 in Township 10 of Range 12 West. 79 acres and 6 1/100 acre. Marion County, AL. $1600. It's recorded in book M, page 5. I found this on films at the Family History Center. Charles originally obtained the land on September 1, 1860 as you can see on the online Goverment Land Office site.
