New Year Wishes -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Unable to display image] May peace fill all the empty spaces around you And in you may contentment answer all your wishes. May comfort be yours, warm and soft like a sigh. And may the coming year show you that every day is really a first day, a new year. Let abundance be your constant companion, so that you have much to share. May mirth be near you always, like a lamp shining brightly on the many paths you travel. May you be true love. Hi, I would like to try and locate any direct descendant of Elizabeth Jane Cagle, daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Parthenia Jinks Cagle. She married a Thomas R Blackstock in 1869 in Cobb County GA abnd died in Texas in ca 1917. Any help appreciated. Gary Hawley
Will do, Tom. I do not have the census films here but are at my local LDS (which has not seen me in some time here lately) and I checked what census I had added of Luzerne (just three townships of Luzerne) and found none there on my personal website. However next time I am there, I will make copies and send to the list. Also will do a bit of surfing later when things calm down a bit here and see what I pull up. But I have to say that each time I passed that surname of CRAGLE, it would make me stop and stare at it thinking it was a name I needed. Of course, I did not think and passed them by. Sure wish now that I had made those copies anyhow. Luzerne is in the NE part of PA, near the New York Boarder. Cathy wrote: Would the surname of CRAGLE connect in any way to CAGLE? I have seen a lot of CRAGLE in the census of Luzerne County, PA. Just a thought. Cathy, Personally, I think it is a very good possibility. There are many derivations of the name. Some of the ones I have looked into include: Kagle, Kegel, Cagley. Kachel, Kiegel, Kigli, Kuchle. For me the bottom line is that if it sounds close it is a possibility. I have had my name spelled many different ways even today. A thought to Earl, it might be a good idea to put a section on the Cagle page where we have a list of possible derivations of the name. Finally, there is another Kagle family in PA that is not descended from Leonhart. This Kagle family came to PA in the mid 1800's and many of them still reside in PA. Hi Cagle Cousins, A few days ago I unsubscribed from the list for a couple of weeks. I received a confirmation message from rootsweb that I was infact unsub-ed. I am still receiving the digest, so apparently it wasn't ordained that I stop getting it. So I will remain with you for awhile. :) Some time ago I made a query in Stevens County, Washington State, about a Cagle family that Lee and I are related to, and I receievd some good data as a result. Then, a few days ago I received this in addition from a member of the Historical Society there: ============================================ Subject: Kegel in Stevens Co, WA Hi, I don't know if you ever got any connections. I'm not connected with this family surname, but I do know that are still Kegels in the Colville area. You might try contacting them...they are listed in the phone book. Ellen -- Picard Pines mailto:m-e-picard@plix.com ============================================ In checking the phone books, I find there are, in fact, four Kegel famillies in Colville, and ten in the entire state. I have tried contact with none yet, but will do so after the holidays. The reason I mention this, is that apparently some Kegel's never changed the spelling to Cagle. We need to keep this in mind while doing our research. Some of our distant Cagles may still be using the original spelling. In the meantime, glad I'm still on the list. Happy Holidays, and God's Blessings to all. Doyle Homepage: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~doylech
Good Morning, Looks like here in the Lake Erie Snow Belt we are going to get our white Christmas. After snow like this I begin to understand why Leonhart et. al. may have moved South. Here is another resource from Ancestry. Com that summarizes the theories about Black Dutch.
