Everyone has been so kind and I have received alot of info about my Cagle heritage, but now I would like to locate some of my cousins. My uncle William Lee Cagle died in 1985 and lived in South Greenfield, MO. His sons were Richard Lee and Carl B. Richard lived in Fort Scott, KS at that time and Carl in Richmond, TX. He also had a daughter, Maxine Harris who also lived in Fort Scott. If anyone has any info about these people I would really like to know. I'm 53 and have lived all of my life not knowing anything about my relatives and I am really eager to learn. Thanks. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Does anyone have any info on a John Cagle who married a Westmoreland. This is not a person in my line. I don't have a date of birth, but he would have been alive and married in 1890, living in Oklahoma (Indian Territory), possibly in Creek County, though that's just a guess on my part. His father-in-law, Noah Westmoreland, is referred to as "the old man", so I'm guessing this John Cagle would be somewhere between 25 and 45 in 1890 (still, that's just a guess). This is the John Cagle who appears accused of murder in Judge Parker's court in Ft. Smith. I got the records several years ago thinking they might be my John Cagle, but it appears they are not the same. However, I find the case interesting and may want to write an article on it someday. Would like to find this John Cagle's family line. Could he be a descendant of the recently-discussed Dade Co., MO Cagle's? Just a complete guess. Any leads would be appreciated.

Hi List , I would like to share something with you. I have a highschool annual from Pisgah, Alabama, called THE MOUNTAIN REFLECTOR Vol.1 1931, published by the students of Pisgah Vocational High School, Pisgah Alabama. This is the dedication: "A native of Sand Mountain, an instructer of genuine ability, a gentleman in the truest sense, who by his desire to serve, gains and retains the respect, esteem, and love of his students. To express our appreciation of his patient help, in gratitude for the inspiration he has been to us and as a token of our love for him as a teacher and friend, We, the senior class of 1931 dedicate this first publication of our high school annual , The Mountain Reflector, to our beloved principal, and professor, James B. Cagle." I found his son, James Bartley Cagle Jr listed in the Jr 1 class of 1931. there is now a J.B. Cagle, the third, living in Fl. His wife also taught school here at this time.James B. Cagle is the oldest son of James J. Cagle, son of Benjamin Cagle, son of Jacob Cagle son of George Cagle, son of John Dutchman Cagle, son of Leonhart Kegal/Cagle Thanks for the list. I enjoy it. I'm trying to clean up my records and came across a duplicate person. I'm not sure which entry is correct. Can someone in this line clear this up for me? I have George Cagle b. about 1750 linked to Lenhardt Kegel (the immigrant) as his father. Then I also have George Cagle b. abt 1750 linked to David (Theobald Dewalt) as his father. Thanks! Donna
Donna, I don't think I got an answer. Most of this stuff has been covered by John G. Cagle in his books and by others as well. These are probably legitimate names, but there has not been a definite connection, that I have seen, to the NC Cagles, certainly not to the extent to put these people in the family tree then paste same to Genealogy.com or somewhere. Some of us who have been around for a while recognize who is and who isn't, and know what to take with a grain of salt. But those new people just starting get all this published information (on the internet) and don't realize that some of it has never been proven. With the exception of David, b. 29 April 1728, we don't know the birth date, order of birth of, or even all of his siblings. He does have a half sister who was 14 in 1729. There are hundreds of Cagle researchers out there and hopefully eventually we'll get this thing worked out. HEREDITARY HEMOCHROMATOSIS Hereditary Hemochromatosis,[HH] is a genetic condition of iron overload affecting approximately 1 out of 200-300 people, with 1 in 8-10 people being carriers. It is 100% fatal if not diagnosed early & treated aggressively, yet with early diagnosis & treatment, one can expect a normal life span. Disclaimer: I am NOT a physician. I am a registered nurse, and a wife and a mother, with a special interest in HH, due to the fact that my family has been diagnosed with it. Therefore; while I have spent many hours researching information on HH, please realize that the advice & links presented here should be discussed with your family physician! Many thanks to Nancy Jane, David Cagle, and others who helped Cathy. That is what makes this a great list. This makes it so much easier for someone like Cathy, wanting information on her Cagle ancestors. My hunch was George Cagle, of Seiver Co; Tn; was James Cagle's father. Cathy, this gives you some good data documented as much as possible. Earl Cagle [email protected] "Join The Cagle List Today"

She was persuaded to go live with Cagle, son of her brother, who promised to look after her. Some nine months ago because of starvation she went to live with Newton Webb. Cathy, According to the 1900 census of Dade Co., MO, your g/grandfather and g/grandmother are still living at age 64 and 61. They are shown from 1860 through 1900 in the censuses for that county. According to John G.Cagle, James is the 14 year old son of George and Mary Cagle of Sevier Co., TN and is in the 1850 census there. George also is in the 1840 census and appears to have been a child of William Cagle (Sr), William's son Henry or a (perhaps deceased) son who left a widow, Polly, enumerated in the 1830 census. Perhaps someone with Sevier Co., TN connections can clear this up. In any case, this appears to be the family of William Cagle, 1754- ca 1850, who was the son of Henry Cagle Sr who died in 1802 in Moore Co., NC. Henry Sr. is thought to be a son of Leonhart Kegill, the emigrant who came from Germany in 1732. Hi Cathy, Welcome to the Cagle list. Below is your James Cagle, as listed in the 1880 Dade Co; Mo; census. There are a few James Cagle's, close to his assumed birth year of 1837 listed in the 1850 census for Tennessee. I could make a wild guess as to his father but someone on the list should know for sure. Anyone out there have any further help for Cathy? Earl D.
