Hi Cagle Listees! May I make a suggestion? I've noticed here and in private emails that carrying on a dialogue is not always easy in the written format. Here is a suggestion that we used on a list that I used to admin. Let me use a sample email as an example: SAMPLE email received************** Dear Donna, I will wait patiently for the information that you are so graciously going to look up for me of Samuel and Jacob's children and spouses if you have it.. I would also appreciate it if you would attach the genealogy report you have of your husbands family tree to a message so I can compare it to mine. I put your name in my tree as Donna unknown. What is your maiden name? Thanks! Now here is how I would format my reply:************** <<I will wait patiently for the information that you are so graciously going to look up for me of Samuel and Jacob's children and spouses if you have it.. >> ..........Thank you for giving me time to look up the information without pressure. Here are Samuel and Jacob's children as I found them in the Salem Church records - etc., etc. etc. << I would also appreciate it if you would attach the genealogy report you have of your husbands family tree to a message so I can compare it to mine. >> ...........Sure! I've attached the file for you. <<I put your name in my tree as Donna unknown. What is your maiden name?>>.......My maiden name was Cagle. My complete name is Donna Kay Heck nee Cagle. ************************** I always include the portion of the original email that I'm referring to within << >>. Preceding my response I put ............................ then my reply. Start a new paragraph for each item. I think this is very helpful since I get a lot of email and may not remember exactly what I asked in the first place. :-) This way you don't have to remember to include a copy of their original message or get these LONG lists of previous messages at the tail of your response. Much simpler for those listees who are on the digest version. As with all things on the 'net - take what advice you like and exercise your delete option for the rest. ;-) Donna Cagle Heck
List: There is a Mollie Cagle, age 44, b. Mississippi with a son, Pruitt, age 14, b. Texas who are listed in 1920 Census of San Angelo Tom Greene Co., Texas. Does anyone connect with this family? Also, Ronald "Ashley" Cagle has asked me to announce his acceptance for membership in the Son's of the American Revolution through his GG Grandfather, Isom Cagle, son of William Jr, son of William Sr, son of Henry Cagle. Anyone descended from Isom is invited to e-mail Ashley for details. His e-mail address is [email protected] His member number with SAR is 162285. He would like to thank all who helped him with identifying his ancestors. Ronald Ashley Cagle family is from the Lawton, Comanche County area of Lawton, OK. I used to watch him and his twin brother Donald Eugene Cagle play football in High School. My son, LeRoy who was in elementary school at the time was very impressed with football and these Cagle brothers. Of course, he wanted to know if they were related to him. I told him they probably were, but when he would do his retelling he would sometime leave out the word "probably". "Ashley" went on to play football for Texas Techs Red Raiders and "Gene", his twin played for the Okla Univ Sooners as a quarterback and defensive safety. LeRoy was more impressed with Ashley because he played defense and that was LeRoy's preference. LeRoy went on to play football for Midland Lee High School, Midland, Texas where he excelled at nose guard and middle linebacker, sometimes quick guard on offense, but defense was his forte. I am proud to announce further, Ashley is my seventh cousin, once removed. So it turns out, LeRoy wasn't overstating his claims!! I wanted to pass along some information from Rootsweb. The State of Arizona has placed Birth and Death records online. I already took a look and there are 23 Cagle's, with records online. I looked over one that appeared to be the oldest. Marshall Cagle, of San Antonio, TX, was the person reporting the information. George Cagle was b. 1-28-1867 (Unknown Alabama) d. 6-7-1947 in Phoenix Maricopa Co; AZ. It said he was a resident for seven years. His mother was listed by maiden name as Lucy Russell, also (Unknown Alabama). His father was George W. Cagle b. (Unknown Alabama). This George Cagle, was listed as a widow and no spouse name was given. I am very happy to see another State add records online. This will be a great resource for many people.
