Mr. Kezirian, a corporate executive for Rolinda Farmers Store Inc. for 50 years, died Sunday. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lisle Funeral Home. Remembrances may be sent to the donor's favorite charity. (2)From: The Fresno Bee May 14, 1997 Herbert Kezirian Age 78, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 1997. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1918, and settled in the small farming community of Rolinda, ten miles west of Fresno, in 1922. That same year, his parents, Peter and Julia Kezirian opened the Rolinda Farmer's store. Herb attended Houghton Elementary School and graduated from Central Union High School in 1936. He worked in his parent's store until 1941, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During World War II, after training in San Diego, he served as a cook with the 495th Coast Artillery and in Okinawa. Following his honorable discharge in 1947, he returned to Rolinda where he engaged in farming and the operation of the Rolinda Farmers Store with his brother, Bob. The store remained in the same location for nearly 75 years, serving three and even four generations of Rolinda residents. Herb, affectionately known as the "Mayor of Rolinda" was actively involved in this community as a Little League Coach for eight years, as a founding member of its Board of Directors for 18 years, as a cofounder of the Kerman State Bank and a member of its Board of Directors for 13 years, an active member of the Kerman Lion's Club for more than 45 years and since 1958, as the founder and chief cook of the Rolinda Charity BBQ crew. Herb is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Renee; twin grandsons, Abraham and Gabriel; his sisters, Stella Mathson of Fresno and Pauline Drake of Torrance; sisters-in-law; Adeline Kezirian and Alice Kezirian of Fresno and Marilyn Kezirian of Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Lozada; and brothers, Edward, Bob and Aram. Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 1997, from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, 3673 N. First Street, Fresno on Friday, May 16, 1997, at 11:00 A.M.
