This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Work, Blunt Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GW.2ADE/340.1.1 Message Board Post: I would love family information and pictures, since I have been researching all the Work descendents of Jacob and brother Joseph Work for over 25 years. The Work's you mention are descendents of Joseph. Do I resume that you are a descendent of Robert and Lydia? If so, your line may be one of the few that used the "s" after Work more recent than James Work(s). See below, but none of James' siblings used Works and I cannot find that Robert's siblings used Works, either. Interesting. According to information I have on file, Robert Work, born 1841 in Grundy Co. Missouri is the son of James Work, who is the son of Joseph Work. In 1840 the family (of James) lived in Livingston Co., MO, but Robert was not born then. I have a copy of the U.S. Census taken 11 Sep 1850 at Atchison Co., MO, page 147, listing James Works (one of the few that used "s" on the end), age 49 on that date, a Farmer born in Tennessee, with Nancy A., 22, born MO, Lucy 17 born MO, Elizabeth age 13 born MO, Alexander 11 MO, Robert 7 MO, Frances 2 MO, and Andrew 4/12 MO. Robert Work married Lydia Ann Blunt on 2 May 1885. I did not know it was in Fresno. Lydia is the daughter of Thomas Blunt and Amanda Burr Blunt. Robert is reported to have died in Fresno CA on 15 Feb 1885. Robert and Lydia had a son, George Leroy Work, who married Flora Melva Bennett, dau of Frederick Bennett and Lilly Blain. Flora was born 5 JUN 1896 in Sanger CA and died 1 MAY 1942 in Salinas CA. They had a son Jack Leroy Work born 11 FEB 1920 at Sanger CA who married Athleen Barbara Jenkins on 20 AUG 1947. I did not know of any other children of Robert and Lydia and the above is all I have on Robert Work and his descendents. I honestly have no idea where I got the information on Robert and Lydia's family at the moment. I readily accept anything you have. I have all sorts of information on Robert's siblings, his father and grandfather and related family. Best regards for now, Michael
