He died Saturday at a local rest home. The family requests remembrances be sent to the J D Thomas Memorial Fund of the Sierra Vista Methodist Church which will be used for the church's new education building. McKenzie Ave., a homemaker and cook for the Young Womens Christian Association from 1908 to 1914 died yesterday in a Fresno hospital after a short illness. A native of Prescott, Iowa she had lived in Fresno 75 years. She was a member of the Sierra Vista Methodist Church, the War Dads Auxiliary, the Gold Star Mothers and church groups. Her husband, James D. Thomas, died in May 1959. Her survivors include two sons, Orval Stevens of Fresno and J. Perry Thomas of Bernardsville, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wagner of Modesto; a sister, Mrs. Opal Brown and a brother Leslie Shryer, both of Fresno; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Stephens Memorial Chapel. Internment will be in the Belmont Memorial Park.
