Hello all, I'm searching for a WEITBRECHT family. A subscriber on another list did a census search for me from CD's that shows the following George J. WEITBRECHT but it isn't clear on whether this entry is for San Joaquin City (Fresno County) or San Joaquin County (unknown city). The entry is shown below and is for the 1900 census. I have Ancestry.com access to the census images but for 1900 Fresno county the pages appear to be listed only by township number... If this "San Joaquin Cty Hospital and Almshouse" was in Fresno county, can anyone offer advice on how to narrow down my 1900 census search to the correct township number?? >San Joaquin Cty, California >San Joaquin Cty Hospital and Almshouse!! >George J. born Feb 1823 born in PA, parents in Germany he was a house >carpenter. Thank you :) Bonnie Phoenix, AZ >
I'd bet that is San Joaquin County, not the city of San Joaquin. 1915 was pretty much the start of San Joaquin Colony, and it was incorporated in 1920. In 1900, where the town is situated was part of a large ranch. I don't think there's a hospital in San Joaquin even today. :) It's a pretty small place, and always has been. At bare minimum, my most pressing argument would be: a census listing wouldn't have called it San Joaquin City if it were not incorporated. -deb At 06:43 PM 3/6/02, Bonnie Gilson wrote: >Hello all, > >I'm searching for a WEITBRECHT family.
