Maxwell Alice T. Maxwell died Dec. 9, 2004. She was 88. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1149 East Alluvial Ave. in Fresno. Born Nov. 5, 1916, she was a graduate of Utah State University with a degree in education. She taught elementary school for 33 years in the Western states. She also received a bachelor's degree in education from Chico State University. After completing her teaching career in Santa Barbara, she then spent her time raising her children and supporting her husband as he worked in the California Agriculture Services. For the past 30 years, she was a resident of Davis, and in the last six months, resided in Fresno. She was preceded in death by her son, Marvin Maxwell. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lin Maxwell; her daughter, Mary Lin Pitalo of Davis; and her son, Dr. Andrew Maxwell of Fresno. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Michael Pitalo and Kimberly Wiechmann of Clovis, Michele Beary of San Diego, Sally McComas of Santa Rosa, Robert Maxwell and Alison Dent of Camden, S.C., Kent Maxwell, Stephanie Maxwell and Susan Turner, all of Fresno, Leah Maxwell of Salt Lake City and James Maxwell of Fresno; and 23 great-grandchildren.
