He is the son of Thorwald and Vilborg Thorwaldson, His fatehr died in Denmark when Horace was 8 years of age. Three years later his mother emigrated to the US with her family of 10 children. In 1893 Horace went to San Francisco and then to Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, CA. In Dec 29, 1898 he went to Fresno. At Watsonville, Jun 10, 1896, he married Miss Cornelia Ellen Peckham (born 21 Jan, 1873 Watsonville Santa Cruz, CA). They had two children, Wilma Abbie, born Mar 5, 1897 and Elis Oliver (Olifur), born May 1 1899. Blue eyes, light hair noted on his Registration card.
