I'm wondering if there's any chance that death records (from 1927, 1945, and 1951) could be present on the state level but missing from the Fresno County Courthouse. I found the deaths in CADI and requested the FHL films for the dates in question, and they definitely appear to be scans of the State death certificates that would be at the courthouse, but the records I'm looking for aren't there. I was preparing to write to the courthouse for copies, but before I throw away that much money, does anyone know whether it's more likely records are missing from the courthouse, or records were missed during scanning? If it didn't take the State so long, I'd just write to them directly, but... Thanks for any advice, Linda Seattle dnlsmoore@earthlink.net

I don't know how many cemeteries there are but maybe a search at www.411.com might give a list. Searched Fresno Morning Republican for William Andrew PATTON - in Deaths it lists him as native of IL, age 63 yrs 8 days. Funeral chapel of Stephens and Bean... But the next page has an article on W. A. PATTON, Banker and Grower. Searched Fresno Bee for Sara Ellen PATTON *(ugh - March 13 was literally uncopyable - too light - and luckily she didn't seeem to show there) but March 14 was much better. I have copies for you - need your address. to Mark in TX mailto:tinman@moment.net I have copied the material requested for you and will be mailing it to you shortly. Meanwhile, here are some highlights .... William Bibb DENNETT died at age 94 in Los Angeles on May 26, 1919. Since he was in the Fresno area at one time, I tried to discover an obituary for him in the Fresno Republican (the only paper covering that time period in the CA Room) but I had no luck on that. A book of Fresno Cemeteries gave me the information that his wife, Caroline (Carrie) M. DENNETT, was born in 1837 and she is buried in Mt. View Cemetery with the listing 1901-1920 - however, I could not find her listed in the CADI for 1920 at all and searching the entire year for her potential death notice in the Fresno papers would be an awesome task. I do not know exactly what 1901-1920 means, but you might want to contact the Mt. View Cemetery and see what they could provide you with on this. Unfortunately, the book you requested material from - Fresno, The Pioneer Years to 1900 - is for the most part a 'laundry list' of names, William's being in this category, the page you asked for (page 141) which I copied, merely says "W. B. DENNETT, city clerk and assessor" in 1885... I have also copied some census records that may be of help and am mailing them as well to you. In 1870 William was age 40 born in Alabama and Caroline M. was age 32 born in Mass. In 1880 William was age 50 born AL parents AL AL Caroline age 42 born AL parents GA? AL and servant Emma WEBBER age 14 born NEV was living with them Sandra
