She was 84 years old. Mrs. Cypert lived in Selma from 1936 until 1975. A graveside service will be held today at 11 am at the North Hilmar Cemetery. The Allen Mortuary in Turlock is assisting the family with the arrangements. She was born in Oklahoma, moved to Prather in 1975, and settled in Hilmar in 1990, where she became a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Hilmar. She moved to Turlock this year to live with her daughter. Survivors include: two daughters, Reba Moore of Turlock, and Peggy George of Dos Palos; a son James Cypert of Santa Nella; eight grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was 49. A chapel service was conducted Saturday at the Buchheim Palm-Colonial Funeral Chapel in Fresno. The Rev.Floyd Quenzer of the First United Methodist Church in Selma conducted the service. Internment was at St. Peter's Cemetery in Fresno. Mrs. Cervantes was born in Selma and had lived in Fresno for nine years. She was a supervisor for the Internal Reveneu Service in Fresno, where she had worked for 23 years. She was an avid sports enthusiast and a graduate of Selma High School.She is survived by her husband, Robert Cervantes of Fresno; her mother and stepfather, Gladys Helm Stevens and DeWeese Stevens of Selma; one son, Lance Coker of Clovis, and one stepson, Robert Cervantes, Jr. of Fresno; one daughter, Amber Coker Garcia of Valencia and one stepdaughter, Stephanie Cervantes of Fresno; two brothers, David Helm and Earl Helm, both of Selma; two sisters, Nora Helm Laikam of Fresno and Barba! ra Helm of Selma; and four grandchildren. Stevens of Selma CA, passed away April 6, 2001 in Fresno. He was born September 14, 1920, in Glendora, CA, and preceded in death by first wife, Carol Penfield Stevens in 1980, his mother Lula King Stevens in 1982 and his father Preston DeWeese Stevens in 1947. Mr. Stevens was superintendent of Dinuba Public Schools from 1962 to 1980. Previously, he was principal of Banning Union High School, Banning, CA and vice principal of Palo Verde High School, Blythe, CA. Mr. Stevens began his educational career at Rosemead High School, Rosemead, CA, after 1949 graduation from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also received an MA degree from Oregon State College at Corvallis. After retiring from public schools, he helped found Cathedral Christian School, Selma. He was school administrator and principal for a time and later board chairman. He also owned a printing business in Fresno until 1989. Always active, he spent his last years working as a senior citizen at Swanson-Fahrney in Selma. Mr. Stevens served in professional and community leadership roles, and was devoted to family and church. He served as Banning Rotary Club president, and later as a Dinuba Rotary Club member. He was active in Rosemead and Tulare County YMCA’s, and served in leadership roles in California Teachers Assocation and Assocation of California School Administrators. He was a Gideons International member for over 40 years, serving in local and state offices. For many years he was board secretary to Cathedral of Light Church. Besides serving on Selma civic boards and committees, he was also Chaplain for American Legion, Post 12. Mr. Stevens was in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1942 until 1945, and served overseas in the European Theater. Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, Gladys Shelley Helm Stevens; daughters, Cynthia Downing and her husband Tom, Gayle Davilla and her husband Robert all of Fresno; stepdaughters, Nora Laikam of Fresno, and Barbara Helm of Selma; stepsons, David Helm and his wife Pat of Selma, and Earl Helm and his wife Patti of Coarsegold. Seventeen step grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive him. The family is greatful to physicians and medical staffs in Selma and at St. Agnes Hospital for compassionate care given Mr. Stevens and for kindness extended to his family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., April 10, 2001, Cathedral of Light Church, 3200 McCall Avenue, Selma. Burial follows at Alta Cemetary, Dinuba. At this point it would be difficult for me to tell but from what you wrote it certainly seems possible. I guess my question would be how the surname Dewey ended up as the given name. I was recently contacted by a lady in the states who ran across my message on GenWeb and provided some info about the Simmons and Beauvais side of the family. These would be my father's uncles and aunts and great uncles and aunts that immigrated down from Canada. Since some came from New England and were escaping religous persecution, it may be possible that there are roots in Scotland. In any case, I'll look forward to hearing from you when you return home. Entombment in the Chapel of Light will follow. Mrs. Van Hoosen was a native of North Dakota, who lived in the Kerman area for 40 years. Surviving are three sons, Harold and David, both of Kerman, and Alfred of Ypsilanti, Mich., and four grandchildren. The family requests that remembrances be sent to the Fresno County Heart Association.

Dearly beloved husband and best friend of 51 years to Bernice Macht of Healdsburg, Loving father of Julie Garvey and her husband John, of Kerman and Jim Macht of Oceanside. Loving grandfather (Papa) of Lara Stanley of Fresno and Kristin Stanley of Kerman. Loving brother of Rose Kezirian, Freda Pontius, John, Charles, Albert and Fritz Macht, all of Fresno County. Dear brother-in-law of Anita Carter, Maynard Carlson, Lila Story, and John Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Julian is a veteran of the U.S. Army Field Artillery, serving in the European theater as a Liaison Pilot, achieving the rank of Lt Colonel. He often flew General George Patton on observation missions. He is an honorary member of the Retired 30th Field Artillery Association. He retired in 1968 as manager of the Bank of America, Healdsburg branch after 30 years in banking. He became interested in real estate and property management. With flexible hours and being raised on a ranch, he became an avid gardener at his home and often assisted neighbors and friends in their gardening tasks. He will be missed by all as a man of many talents. Julian was active in the Healdsburg Boys and Girls Club for many years and was named Father of the Year in 1969. He was also very active in the youth swimming programs and the Future Farmers Fair Auction procedures. He was a member of the Healdsburg Golf Club, Kiwanis Club, and Good Shepard Lutheran Church. In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral services. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday August 10, 1997 at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 1402 University St., Healdsburg, CA 95448. Mr. Kezirian, a corporate executive for Rolinda Farmers Store Inc. for 50 years, died Sunday. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lisle Funeral Home. Remembrances may be sent to the donor's favorite charity. (2)From: The Fresno Bee May 14, 1997 Herbert Kezirian Age 78, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 1997. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1918, and settled in the small farming community of Rolinda, ten miles west of Fresno, in 1922. That same year, his parents, Peter and Julia Kezirian opened the Rolinda Farmer's store. Herb attended Houghton Elementary School and graduated from Central Union High School in 1936. He worked in his parent's store until 1941, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. During World War II, after training in San Diego, he served as a cook with the 495th Coast Artillery and in Okinawa. Following his honorable discharge in 1947, he returned to Rolinda where he engaged in farming and the operation of the Rolinda Farmers Store with his brother, Bob. The store remained in the same location for nearly 75 years, serving three and even four generations of Rolinda residents. Herb, affectionately known as the "Mayor of Rolinda" was actively involved in this community as a Little League Coach for eight years, as a founding member of its Board of Directors for 18 years, as a cofounder of the Kerman State Bank and a member of its Board of Directors for 13 years, an active member of the Kerman Lion's Club for more than 45 years and since 1958, as the founder and chief cook of the Rolinda Charity BBQ crew. Herb is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Renee; twin grandsons, Abraham and Gabriel; his sisters, Stella Mathson of Fresno and Pauline Drake of Torrance; sisters-in-law; Adeline Kezirian and Alice Kezirian of Fresno and Marilyn Kezirian of Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Lozada; and brothers, Edward, Bob and Aram. Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 1997, from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, 3673 N. First Street, Fresno on Friday, May 16, 1997, at 11:00 A.M.
