CHAMBERS crossed the plains in 1845, with his father, Thomas C. CHAMBERS, a brother of David J. CHAMBERS. On the first stage of their journey they reached Spanish Hollow MO. They arrived at The Dalles OR, Oct 27 1845. In 1849 Thomas J. CHAMBERS came to CA. He died at Yakima in 1913 at 86 years of age. His wife was America McALLISTER, native of KY, who had crossed the plains with her parents to Washington. Of their seven children, John was the youngest. If so, I'd love a copy to possibly find the other siblings whom we know very little about their whereabouts. The SHIREY'S hail from Pennsylvania, but my GG uncle Solomon M. SHIREY, moved all over the USA. He had been in Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and died in California. Julia and her husband could have been in Illinois for under the Deaths I found a Robert Leslie HOUSE, who was born in Illinois and his mother is listed as a SHIREY. Is he perhaps a son?? I've noted other surnames of HOUSE the folks too were in Missouri, so therefore is there a connection?? I know Solomon lived around the area of LaPlata, MO. where his first wife died along with a son. Old letters have survived when Mary ALSBACH was still living, and one son had just died, and they sounded pretty discouraged. Hence, the reason they undoubtedly moved on! He had worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Fresno as a tax examiner. You list Martin Van Buren CASNER born 10/01/1842 Travis Co TX; died 3/24/1923 in Fillmore CA- he doesn't show in the CADI. Francis Marion CASNER born 10/01/1842, TX; I think this is Francis M. CASNER who died age 78 in Riverside 3/11/1921.
