    3. If any of you are the list moms that I requested to contact me privately.. I can't open your emails. Ann Mott; Regina Flannagan; Marsha Ivey Apparently, these are 3 of 5 emails that I have received in the past 3 days that have virus attachments.. no message in email, just very suspicious attachments. One was from CAFresno list with a heading of ARCHER-WOOLLEY.. one was from a MSAmite lister. Don't want to put scares into the Rootsweb lists, but if you are trying to contact me, please try without replying to a Rootsweb posting, rather privately. I ran a virus scan yesterday and no infected files were found on my computer. Please advise. Nancy Waite in OR [email protected]

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GW.2ADE/973 Message Board Post: My email is down, so I'm going to leave the message here and hope that everyone who is interested has time to see it. Today on the History Channel, in "The Real West" series, they'll be showing the story of the Mountain Meadows Massacre from 6pm to 7pm today. Don't ask me whether that's Eastern time or Pacific time or both, I haven't quite figured that part out yet. :) The little told part of this story, and I don't know if they'll cover it on the special, I haven't seen it yet -- is that these settlers were mostly bound for the central valley. Many had families waiting for their arrival in Tulare county, and some of the families settled in Fresno county, too. For more information, you might want to check out the Mountain Meadows Association's website. Like I said, I haven't seen it yet, and can't tell you which side of this VERY long scandal in Utah history the film makers landed on, but there have been efforts to cover this up and paint it in a different light for well over 100 years. 128 men, women, and children were murdered in 1857 while they were enroute here to join others in their family and from their communities. I've put a link to the association's web site below: http://www.mtn-meadows-assoc.com/ There's also information at: http://www.mtnmeadows.org/ -deb Christensen

Hey, been busy, but here's a heads up about some Fresno-related history information. deb Old High School, Fresno, souvenir plate -- Wow, what a catch this is, and it's gotta be pretty old, I'd be surprised if it were any 'younger' than the 1920's. I've never seen one of these before. This is the first High School, on the corner of Divisadero and ... whatever street that is; it became a Community College. It is not Fresno High up on Echo, that's much newer. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GW.2ADE/960.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Recent Obituaries (and all the news articles) from the Fresno Bee, from about 1986 forward are in digital format, and WERE offerred for $1.99 an article from a newspaper archive site. The Bee has pulled out of that company, but evidently is going to offer all articles from that date on again. I'll call and see what I can find out about the time frame. The articles were searchable and easy to use -- I was able to quickly locate my Father, Grandfather, and Grandmother's obituaries using their search functions. Nothing before 1986 is archived anywhere in any sort of electronic searching, at least that I know of, from the Bee. :( I'm unaware of any published index of obits before this date from local efforts, either. So ... it's microfilm time for most everything before 1986. The last I knew, the Bee's Research Desk charged by the hour for obituary or article searches, and it wasn't a pretty number. Sacramento's State Library and the main Fresno library has the Bee on microfilm from it's start in the early 1920's. Earlier newspapers in the area are sporadic, but quite a few *are* on microfilm from the first 1860's efforts on. Those early newspapers can be a real trip trying to find an obit. Sandra has a heart of gold for all her hard work at this on everyone's behalf. [You do good, Sandra. :) ] deb

    3. I can try on some of these. Sandra -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Waite [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, November 16, 2001 4:09 PM To: Sandra Harris Cc: aaCAFRESNO-L; CATulare Subject: BEALL, Albert 1902-1945 Hi Sandra, Based on this information below, would you be able to find any obits for these individuals? Information received from IOOF Cemetery in Fresno (Odd Fellows Cemetery, 1541 W Belmont Ave, Fresno CA). Block 2, Lot 129 is a BEALL Family Plot where 5 (except Ray Clifford) of Nettie Virginia UTT-BEALL-HARDWICK's 6 children (all were sons) are buried. Grave 3; No Marker Grave 4; No Marker Grave 5; No Marker Grave 6; William BEALL 18 Jun 1886 - 17 Jan 1964 (Tulare Co) Grave 7; C Homer 1892 - 1913 (Clarence) Grave 8; Norman 1889 - 16 Sep 1923 Grave 9a; Albert 1902 - 1945 Grave 9b; J Layman (Cremains) 15 Nov 1897 - 5 Apr 1970 (Sacramento Co) Grave 10; Nettie (UTT) BEALL-HARDWICK 26 Jul 1866 - 1 Jul 1958 Grave 11; No Marker Grave 12; Z A (Zephaniah Albert) 1859 - 19 Dec 1910 (burial date) Also, the only other Hardwick they could find in the cemetery was Martin Francis HARDWICK 1 Dec 1958 (burial date); Block 4, Lot 63A, Grave 1. CADI has Martin 23 Oct 1883 (NY) 28 Nov 1958. On CADI is a Mable ELDRIDGE-HARDWICK b 4 Jul 1889 NY d 7 Apr 1940 (Fresno Co), which I would 'presume' was Martin's first wife. This would have made Nettie married to Mr HARDWICK sometime after 1940 possibly. I had no luck trying to locate Albert on the CADI, but at least there is a death year for him in the cemetery. What year was WWII over? I can't remember if it was 1944 or 1945?? Wonder if he could have died somewhere other than CA and his remains were brought home??? He would have been a fairly young man which ever birth year you use (1902 or 1904), only about 43-45. Ray Clifford could be in one of the unmarked graves; wives of some of the boys could also be in some of the unmarked graves. I would suspect that there are even more BEALLs in IOOF than what I found out (because I had asked specifically for these BEALLs). Does anyone have any additional information on this family? Cousin Nancy in OR
