Mo 1849) moved their family from Modoc Co., CA to Tollhouse about 1900. Their children were Lemma Dell, Francis Samuel, Preston Hays, Cora A., Joseph Leo, and Sophia Oleta McMurtry. Lemma Dell was married to Joseph Hannon and they had children Louise, Theodore Gerald and Genevieve Hannon and after Joseph died she married George Pierce Baley in 1903 and lived in Tollhouse into the 1930's. The Baley children were named Isabelle Sarah, George Pierce, Berry Wright, William Guy and Milton Dell Baley. The California Death Index and SSDI show that a number of McMurtry's lived in Tollhouse area in the 1950's and later. Does anybody know if these later McMurtry's are related to Joseph McMurtry?

I didn't find identifiable info for his wife or either daughter, so they may still be alive? Is your mother Irma or Anibal or was there a son? You can check the childrens' birth certificates, because those give parents' names and birth places. Or you might want to post to a Los Angeles county group to see if someone there can find you a obit in 1943. Hope this helps.
