Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I had my doubts since my original message was sent on the 15th and bounced back on the 16th with the cryptic message that Rootsweb.com would not accept the message for 4 hours and that the address had "non transient fatal errors" but that my server would keep sending for the next 5 days. The connection was finally made on the 17th and the message was transmitted over the list. Communications, not genealogy.. My interest in Eldora County is the possibility that my forbears , the Jacob BUROWS family may have arrived in California via the Carson Valley-Placerville route over Johnson Pass the year that it opened in 1852. I am also interested in the history of Phillips stage station, later Phillips Resort along that route where our family vacationed for many years my father beginning his trips to the Sierras from Oakland in the early part of the century.
