Jordan Trowbridge inscribed on it along with what appear to be California goldrush era (1849-56?) scenes, including animals and birds common to the Sacramento River region. A friend of John Sutter's, named Trowbridge, was given a grant of land SE of Sacramento following the goldrush and established a small town, now gone I believe, called Trowbridge there. Am trying to get some history on this man. Previously, I have been told there might have been a '49er in El Dorado county by this name. Any further info would be welcome.
