Frank and his wife Anna Nelson Kirtlan owned or managed the Golden West Hotel in Diamond Springs from 1897 to about 1908. They then moved to Placerville where they managed the Western Hotel until 1912. Their daughter, and my aunt, Mildren Kirtlan Chapin, is now 100 years old. She told me today about attending Sunday School in the school house in Diamond Springs. She said her mother was a Presbyterian and her father a Methodist. Since her mind is foggy, I wondered if someone can tell me if there is someplace I can write to verify church information. Her grandparents, Robert and Barbara Nelson raised five children in Diamond Springs. We have a picture of Rev. Pierce but don't know his faith. Arlene and Earl were most helpful to me in the past.
