Dear Rick, Yes, there is a book at the EDC Museum in Placerville. I have several pages of it, but, unfortunately, not the C's or G's. I hope to go back up there soon and plan and getting the rest of the book. I can then let you know if you can wait that long. You can find a wealth of information at the museum. To look at it you wouldn't believe all they have in there. It's manned by some real nice people. Maybe someone on this list is close by and will do a look-up for you in the mean time. Good luck, Jeni in Castro Valley Dear List, Can someone tell me whether Eldorado County has marriage records for 1884? In that year, according to the 1900 census, John B. Giannini (perhaps then still going by Giovanni Bautista Giannini) married Julia Catto of Eldorado County (Julia's location from family records.) Both families were Italian Swiss, although Julia was born in CA. By 1885, John and Julia were settled in San Francisco, where John was a cook or chef at various restaurants. In 1901, John died, and the funeral notice in the SF Examiner of 20 May 1901 ended with the request (Placerville papers please copy.) I am curious to know whether the Placerville papers did copy, and whether they may have added any information about the relatives in Placerville. Rick Sherman Kensington, CA >>

Darrel: I picked up an answer to your post but don't have the original, I got quite a bit of information today at the county please e-mail me with your addy so I can post if you still need/want it. Eileen Gillette El Dorado County Volunteer
The following is the list that I have for look-ups that I have scheduled to do. If you don't see your name on the list please contact me so I can add it. Life has been hectic with working so far from home and only getting here for a few days out of the month. It looks like I will not get to these until we get back from Santa Cruz on the 20th of June but before we leave for Utah on the 22nd. I am sorry for any inconvenience this causes any of you but there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. I will be glad when winter hits and our business slows down a little bit. I don't want to rush any of the look-ups and I want to do them right so I will get back to each of you with my results before we leave for Utah. Thanks for your understanding, I know what it is like to wait for information. Eileen Gillette Debbie Stevens Helen J. To all who are expecting look-ups from me this week, I have had to put it off until next week or longer. This is not of my own doing. I bought the last copy in the Barnes & Noble warehouse and the book is a treasure for anyone searching gold rush era ancestors. I can't be sure I found my own three Graham '49ers because many gave nitials only. But I have found the names of four men who became co-owners of the Eureka Mine with my grandfather and his brothers. And I have been able to help two other researchers who were looking for California pioneers.

Darrel, It's the 1892 Great Registry and I checked it out. I found these two listed. You can obtain more info by going to their website and contacting them. It tells you how on the site. The info they send you is free. Stroup, Henry Stroup, Uriah http://midtown.net/mirish/eldorado/otherlinks/eldorgtr3.htm#S Again, good luck, jeni
Darrel, I do find him in the 1850 EDC Census, aged 21 and it does not indicate where he was from. Have you tried the EDC USGenWeb site? http:midtown.net/mirish/eldorado/eldorcty.htm You can check out the Surname list and then scroll down to Other El Dorado link and then check out the Great Registry for 1894(?). You might find him there. Good luck, jeni << Looking for information about Henry Burdette Stroup who emigrated to El Dorado County, CA about 1830-40. Henry is my great great grandfather. >>

Eileen: I just re-read your following message concerning cemetery records in ElDorado County and am asking once again for help.. My great grandfather, Robert Nelson, from Denmark, died 15 Dec 1885 in Diamond Springs and is buried in the old cemetery there. I wonder if you have any information on him from the cemetery records that you have access to. There are no markers on most of the graves and I was unable to find a death record for him. However, I did locate his probate records. There were several Nelsons from Denmark in El Dorado county from about 1865 to the early 1900's but I don't know if any of them were his siblings. I would certainly love to know more. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Helen hjfingado@juno.com >Hello List, I have struck gold in El Dorado County.
