Also, follow the SS# link if the social security number appears in the death listing. If you find a social security number for the person, PLEASE use the "Post-em" link in the right column to share your name and email address and a message that you are researching this person. Someone might get in contact with you from your message. The location of death listed above is the COUNTY of death. To determine the CITY of death you will need to order the death certificate or find a volunteer to transcribe the information at the county recorder's office. Here's the info site for CA vital records: http://vitalrec.com/ca.html Make sure you visit the link for the county of death listed - quite often it's much faster to deal with the county for a copy of the death certificate than it is with the state. If you do order from the state, fax your order. It's the fastest way to get the certificate and you can order up to 5 certificates for the $7.00 credit card surcharge. 3. Christiane, The online site doesn't have the earliest marriages, for the 1850s and 1860s. It starts later, like in the 1870s or 1880s. I know that when you search the recorder site, it shows a range of 1850 to 200, but there are a few marriages in my family that I know to have happened in El Dorado County in the 1850s and 1860s that aren't shown. So the simple answer is "No, it's not complete". Regards, John > From: "F. + C. 1. [CAELDORA] Re: National Archieves Research offer
    2. Jay, What a great offer you are making. If you have time, one of these days when you are in D.C., would you mind checking to see if there is a military, and pension, file on Asa Sheldon of Burrillville, RI. He fought in the Rev. War. Also, if you get a chance, I would be interested in availability for Alfred Warren Darling. He served in the Navy during the Mexican War and was supposed to have been a pensioner. If the files are there, let me know the cost, and what papers I need to fill out. Your offer is surely appreciated. As you mentioned in your post, one always wonders if we are getting everything available in the file when we place a direct order with the Archieves. Thanks again for your offer to do the research. Just a quick not to let you know that if any one of you are needing Millitary or pension files from the National archives, I might be able to help. I go into Washington DC once a week on business and I am quite familliar with the National Archives. I would be happy to get whatever anyone who is on this list needs. For pension files, complete with all pages (usually up to 50), nice copies (I make sure of this) $34.00. For millitary files complete $20.00. For revolutionary millitary files, $20.00, and for Rev. pension files $34.00. If you not sure if your ancestor has a file I will even search for you , check the file to see if the file exists, then you can place your order. I am usually pretty fast as I have been researching for the past 10 years and usually have you file for you in 10 days. Otherwise, the National Archives can take 2 months of longer for a response of which they often always short you on the number of pages they give you. Let me know if you want me to research anything for you. You may give me the names of the ancestors who you believe fought in the union or confederate army or even ther Rev. war and I will see if they have the files. In most cases a few or most them probably will. Let me know. Thanks. Jay Arnold --part1_7a.78db1a1.269f4f27_boundary--
