    3. Hello Kind People in El Dorado Co. I am a docent/researcher for the Sacramento Old Sacramento Schoolhouse. A person came into our schoolhouse today and was telling me all about the Greenwood Schoolhouse. I know that I am grasping at straws, but I have had sweet people come through for me on stranger requests than this, so I am asking the following: Does anyone know anyone in Greenwood named Kim Taylor? I am told that she works at the Greenwood Post Office and that she knows all that is available about this schoolhouse. The Old Sac. Schoolhouse has a project that we are trying to get a picture of these still standing schoolhouses, list when the were built, perhaps give some interesting material, and give the current status of the schoolhouse i.e. vacant, a musuem, a private house... Thank you in advance! Marilyn

    3. Hello Deb: We got away a bit early today and went to the county. The only one of your request that I found was the death cert for Opal Irene Jones. born 31 Aug 1912 in Arizona died 23 May 1994 in Placerville, California 10:55 a.m. age 81 SS # 562-09-2248 widowed self employed homemaker/domestic for 60 years resident 2621 Morrene Drive, Placerville, California 18 years in El Dorado County informant, Susan Harvey (daughter) 2370 Morrene Drive, Placerville, California (In the phone book there is a Keith Harvey listed at 2370 Morrene Drive, I am assuming he is Susan's husband. The phone number listed is (530)622-7163) If you decide to write, the zip code for Placerville is 95667. father Aaron Burr Jones born in Kansas mother Eva May Bentley born in Missouri buried 26 May 1994 Westwood Hills Memorial Park, Placerville, California (located at 2720 Cold Springs Road, phone (530-622-2223) Funeral Director Memory Chapel (located at 675 Bee, Placerville, California, phone (530-622-1242) place of death, home cause of death Metastatic Oat Cell Carcinoma of lung (6 months) a biopsy was performed no other significant cause Opal had been seen by her Dr (Douglas P. Tustin M.D., 3150 Gilmore Street, Placerville, CA). I looked up Douglas, he is still practicing, his phone number is (530) 622-4884 from 8 Jun 1978 to 20 May 1994 I wasn't really sure if you were looking for information on Burr, Charles and Arthur so I looked them up anyway. There are no Burr Jones and too many Charles and Arthurs to be able to know if any are right. Maybe after you contact the Harvey's you will have more answers. Good luck, let me know if I can help out any more. Eileen Gillette El Dorado County, Volunteer

    3. Posted on: El Dorado Co. Ca Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ca/ElDorado/42 Surname: Trowbridge ------------------------- I have a presentation cup with the name C. Jordan Trowbridge inscribed on it along with what appear to be California goldrush era (1849-56?) scenes, including animals and birds common to the Sacramento River region. A friend of John Sutter's, named Trowbridge, was given a grant of land SE of Sacramento following the goldrush and established a small town, now gone I believe, called Trowbridge there. Am trying to get some history on this man. Previously, I have been told there might have been a '49er in El Dorado county by this name. Any further info would be welcome.

    1. [CAELDORA] Teesdales Naturalization Records
    2. Don
    3. Hello , I sent off for the 1872 California Great Register of Voters to see about three possible relatives listed on it. Since I live on the east coast, I am wondering if anyone has access to naturalization records that could help me take this a step further. San Joaquin County, CA Record # 3362 Robert Teesdale, age 41, Born Scotland, Laborer, Residence: Stockton - Ward #1, Naturalized:July 15, 1867 at Stockton, CA in County Court. registered July 1, 1867. El Dorado County, CA Record #3889 Thomas Teasdale, age 32, born Scotland, Occupation listed as: D'ch Ag'nt , Residence: Diam'd Sp'gs Tp, naturalized: June 10, 1867 at Eldorado County County Ct. Registered June 10, 1866 San Joaquin, CA Record#56137 John William Teesdale, age 32, born England, Naturalized October 5, 1868 at Stockton, CA in County Court. Registered in year 1868 The one for Robert of Stockton is definitely a relative. The John William Teasdale also of Stockton makes me wonder if it was a mispelling on the name and perhaps a mistake of England for "Great Britain" on the part of the enumerator. I wonder the same about the Thomas Teasdale of San Joaquin. My Teesdale family came from Larkhall, Scotland in early to mid 1800's and after some settled in Philadelphia, others went on to California, Illinois and Iowa. Thank you for any input and suggestions you might have. Don Teesdale

    2. Eileen Gillette
    3. To all of you on both the El Dorado list and the California death index list who responded to my outrage over the theft of our burial records, thank you. I wasn't quite sure if it was the right thing to post and almost didn't but am glad I did. I know all of you are as outraged as I am. Many of you are passing the word in your groups and some have their eyes and ears open for any clues. These records were never filmed so all we have left is a written binder full of burial records but at least we have that. I am in hopes that just like America's most wanted, one of you will solve this case. Thanks again to all of you. If and when we recover the records I will let all of you know. I was appalled to find out that sometime since I was there a couple of weeks ago some person (and I use that word loosely) walked off with all of the county burial records that were on fiche. I am so angry with who ever did this heartless crime. This county shares all records, books and anything they have with anyone, there was no reason for this at all. Keep your ears open for anything that may solve this crime. I can still look up burial records in a large binder, but it is not as complete as the fiche, it usually only gives who, when and where. Thanks for listening, this is one angry volunteer. Eileen Gillette El Dorado County

Best of luck Vern D vdander@denver.net ///////// Message from Stanjacox@aol.com Just another "thank you" for tipping me off about the book "California Wagon Train Lists." I bought the last copy in the Barnes & Noble warehouse and the book is a treasure for anyone searching gold rush era ancestors. I can't be sure I found my own three Graham '49ers because many gave nitials only. But I have found the names of four men who became co-owners of the Eureka Mine with my grandfather and his brothers. And I have been able to help two other researchers who were looking for California pioneers.
