I tried to send this a couple of days ago, but apparently put wrong address/subject in my computer a/c it never got to the list. I'll shorten it this time. Earlier, Suzanne and others were discussing whether there were Cady progenitors other than Nicholas. I checked my copy of Orrin Peer Allen's 1910 "Descendants of Nicholas Cady of Watertwon Mass) and found, in his introduction, several references to other Cadys. Among them, James Cade, who settled in Hingham, Mass in 1635 and later moved to Boston. (There's also a James Cady who was one of Nicholas Cady's sons, so if you're researching that line, it can be confusing.) Then there's a Thomas Cade of Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan, who was born in Yorkshire,England in 1786, so obviously is not descended from Nicholas. Hope this helps some of you. Also...I suppose all of you know that Cady has, through the centuries, been spelled several other ways: Cade, Caddie, Cadye, Caddy, and Kadye, to name those that Allen lists. If you don't have access to Orrin Peer Allen's book and want to know more about James Cade, Thomas Cade, or other Cadys discovered and mentioned in Allen's intro, let me know and I'll send that bit of info.
