Let's hear from everyone, and have a roll call. My Cady line is the most difficult line I am researching. My great-great grandmother was Sarah H. Cady, born in Southbridge, Worcester County, Massachusetts 22 March 1836. She claimed her parents' names were August Cady, born in Connecticut, and Helen Lyons (Lyon), born in Massachusetts. I have been unable to find any "August Cady" in the area, and it has been suggested that August was a middle name. In the 1850 census, Sarah' s future husband, Lution (Lucien) Fairfield, was living in Southbridge with the family of John Vinton. There were Lyons families as neighbors. Last Thursday, while at the Library of Michigan, I went through each name in the 1850 census of Southbridge, hoping to find Sarah, or someone who could possibly be "August." I found only one Cady family, and wouldn't you know, the name was hardly readable, but seemed like F. W. Cady, age 30, born in Connecticut, wife Dimetta? aged 20, and a George W. age 15. Of course, "August" could have been dead by this time, but I was hoping to find Sarah. My next step, when I get back to Lansing, will be to check the 1850 census for the near-by towns line by line for Sarah. There is always the possiblity they migrated to New York State, but have no clue where. Strangely enough, no one by their names are listed in the deeds of the area or in the Southbridge Vital Records. Good hunting to all, Sue Cady List Manager > > > > > >
