Hi everyone, I want to assure everyone that all posts of extractions are very important and are much appreciated. They are entered into the Archives, so even if no one makes a connection right now, down the line--whether for someone new to the list, or a discovery of new names on your tree--this information will be available. (I plan on posting the archives address once a month--it's a good idea to bookmark it, too.) Sue Cady List Manager
I came across an 1824 street directory of Providence,RI - my ancestor Sarah (Sally) Cady is married by then to Alexander McFarland - listed in a boarding house along with others is Cady Newell. Anybody recognize this fellow ?? John Scott-Ferree New Windsor,Md.
I meant to add Frank Prescott CADY, Jessie's brother, also lived in Box Butte Co for a while.
Well, I don't know if it is a connection or a coincidence (you don't give any dates for Hazel): Jessie A. CADY married John Polk Hazard, one of the original homesteaders in Box Butte Co, Nebraska in 1885. One of their two daughters, Maude Isma Hazard, married J. D. BLAKE in 1916 in Bismarck, ND. I don't know what J.D. stands for; his 3 kids (still living, but quite elderly) always refer to him by his initials. Jessie and John divorced and Maude spent her teenhood with Jessie's sister Ella M. Cady (who married Matt. Wing, a minister). Of their nine children, the third child was Olive, b. May 7, 1787. " I said nothing about William being "Capt."; however, upon checking my notes further, I find that he was indeed the Captain William Bradford in a line with many Williams. I do not have any info yet on the early family life, just vital statistics. I only recently found the "Mayflower" web site and haven't had the time to delve deeper. I know Olive and William were probably living in Maine in 1825. Quoting from _History of Hardin County, Iowa_, published in 1883: "Olive Bradford Miles was born in Newport, Penobscot Co., Maine, April 24, 1825. She was educated at Newport Academy, and commenced teaching school at the early age of fifteen years, always commanding the highest wages . . ." Since you knew this William was the "Capt.", do you have info to share?
Is there anyone out there that knows these Cady's or can connect to them? March 3rd 1933 Penn Yan Democrat L.E. Smith of New York City was killed instantly and Emmett Cady also of NYC driver ,died a few hours later in Sheperd Hosp.[ now Schuyler Co. Hosp.] Montour Falls,NY, following a car accident in which their car left the highway at the entrance to the village of Watkins Glen, NY late Tuesday night and ran in to a telephone pole and toppled it over on the car.Dr. Maurice Cady of NYC, the third passenger in the car recieved minor injuries. Dr Cady and his brother Emmett were former residents of Dundee,NY where their father conducted the Cady Hotel. They spent their boyhood and early youth in that village and have many aquaintances in this vicinity. I hope this helps someone with their family tree missing Cady's and also might be able to tell me what family they came from.Hoping to connect them to my tree and others. Thanks, Shirley Cleveland Dundee,NY Thanks to the ones in Yates Co. that does look-ups for a small fee.
