Zeb Cady m. Providence,RI 1797 at the Baptist Church to Sally Freeman she may be the daughter of Dan Freeman of Attleboro,Mass. Zeb and his wife moved off to Ct probably after 1810-20. Sally Cady m. 1820 to Alexander McFarland - Scotch-Irish emigrant who arrived in Prov abt 1814 from Tyrone Co., Ireland. Sally and Alex were married in the Beneficent Cong Church. Known offspring - Alex jr.,John,Sarah. Alex jr. was a mariner. Sally (Cady) McFarland d. 1848 of Erisypelas - no parents given and much to my chagrin no birthplace. Alex d. 1876 - of suicide - he tied rocks around his neck and threw himself into long pond. It does appear that Alex and Sarah removed to Ohio for awhile but returned to Rhode Island and for a time at Attleboro,Mass. Zeb moved off to according to the Cady Gen to Jewett City and his wife outlived him by many years. Any help on Zebulon beyond what the gen covers is appreciated. John Scott-Ferree
Looking for those researching Lemuel Cady and Ruth Gleason. I had everyones names in my database along with 3500 names in my family tree. I have lost it all thanks to my BIL. I have lost several branches of my trees. Thank god that I have some on hard copy. I thought that I had it backed up but now I can't even find that. Thanks for any help. Sara scoobydoo@sltic.com
I have two questions for the list. I want to order the Cady books, by Jim Cady. I have an address and phone number, but I was wondering if he has an e-mail address - or even better - if he is on this list. I didn't receive any response to my posting about James Cady. Does anyone know how he ties in to Nicholas? My line: Nicholas>Joseph>Stephen>Samuel>Jason>Ira>Thaddeus S.>Electa Eliza>George Franklin>George Harvey>Evelyn Mae>Susan Kay Crowson (me). Also looking for information on Lyman Ross Cady and daughter Callie Cady, who lived in Rice Co., KS. I have old photos I'd like to pass on to a descendant. Thanks very much for any help. Hello everyone, I have changed the "Reply To" setting on our Cady List. From now on, when responding to a post, your answer will go to the list as a whole. If you wish to reply privately, you will need to enter the address of the person you're writing to and not click on "Reply To". I hope that this doesn't cause any problems for anyone. Many many times, an informative reply which would benefit the whole group, is not seen by anyone else. I feel that any and all information is helpful and informative. We are a small group and I trust that this will increase our postings and discussions. In the Spirit of Family, Sue Cady List Manager
According to "A Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New-England ...", by Farmer, "James Cady came from the west of England with three sons, and settled at Hingham, Mass., in 1635. It appears that he moved to Yarmouth, Mass. in 1640. Also, in that same year, there was a James Cady of Boston. James and Nicholas Cady were early inhabitants of Groton, Mass. I have never seen any other information on James other than this. Hello everyone, I trust this finds everyone enjoying a wonderful summer. Welcome to all new members, and Shirley, I hope you are feeling better now. Tom, your recent post regarding Nicholas Cady being the "father" of most of the descendants in the US started me wondering. There are many such families that came of one particular immigrant ancestor--there are four such lines I can think of right off in my husband's and my families. I would like to know your opinions regarding the Cadys--Can anyone think of any other Cady who came over and started a line, or does it seem that Nicholas was the only one. I am wondering this because my Cadys do not show up in the Nicholas Cady genealogy, although they lived in the same region. Sue Cady List Manager
Does anyone out there have info on Lyman Ross CADY? His wife's maiden name was PUTNAM. They had a daughter Callie, who married a BRADBURY. I believe Lyman's father was Lyman Ross CADY, Sr. This family lived in Rice Co., KS - Sterling, Little River or Geneseo areas. Thanks for any help. Susan Hudspeth SHUDSPETH@prodigy.net
Let's try again, Does anyone out there have any information on Stoddard Cady (son of Ezekial) or his son Charles? I would also love to contact any descendents of Charles' brothers: James, Ezekial, or David. I have found a Charles with correct age and birthplace in Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA. Hi everyone, Welcome to the new members! We are a pretty small list, probably because Cady is a rather unusual name. I'm afraid folks drop out when there's "nuthin' happenin'." I encourage all of you to hang in there with us! We never know when some insignificant tidbit will turn out to be just the key we're looking for! I recently had a case in point on another family I'm researching--a 4th cousin sent me the news that she found a fellow I have been looking for without success--he was the wandering type--when she perused homestead grants for her great-greats. I would have never never connected the two families in this way. Isn't genealogy wonderful? Shirley, as far as you being the Cady orphan, I thought that I was, since no one has ever heard of "my" August Cady in Southbridge, Massachusetts and I cannot make a connection to any other Cady family! He must have been the proverbial "never owned anything, never stayed in one place, never joined a church, avoided the census taker" kind of guy, who eloped and in the end, fell into the ocean! Ah, there's always hope, and that's why I started this list. We are all of us family all together, there are no orphans when on our list! Everyone have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July week-end. Louise, Catherine (Stedman) Cady was the wife of Ebenezer Cady who died in the Civil War. They had Myron Leaner Cady b. 1855, Angelo A. Cady b. 1857, Willis O. Cady b. 1859 and Mary Cady b. 1862. Catherine and Ebenezer were married in 1855 so I do not believe Clarica was from this family. Got to run off to work.
