I am trying to find who the parents of John Cady b: 15 Feb 1807 Washington Co., PA, were. He was married 17 Oct 1829 to Rebecca Morgan in Nobelestown, Allegheny CO., PA.I have her birth as 22 March 1810. They came to Ohio about 1860 and even though he was older he enlisted, on 15 Nov 1861, in Pomeroy, Meigs Co., OH to serve in the Civil War. He was in the 7th Ohio Battery and died in a Memphis, TN, hospital on 22 Sep 1862. Fell ill during the battle of Shiloh. His children were: William, John C., Daniel, Isabel, Joseph, Mary Jane, Rebecca Ann (She is my gr grandmother), Susan, and Hezekiah Willet. These are the only children I have though I have heard there were thirteen children. Any help would be appreciated. Would also like to find who the parents of Rebecca Morgan were. Margaret

I found these newspaper articles in an old scrapbook of obits and marriage notices from St. Clair, Michigan, newspapers (probably the Republican.) Please let me know if you would like the entire piece. "1892 (taken from the) Council Grove, Kansas Republican: The elite of the city assembled at the university last evening for the purpose of listening to Miss Alice Cady, violinist of the Ottawa Conservatory, with her mother and sister. We venture to assert that Miss Cady's playing has been surpassed but once...Her sister Miss Lizzie Cady entranced the house with her Indian Bell Song..." There is a genealogist doing much research in Box Butte Co., Nebraska. If she comes across names of interest to me, she sends them on. P. 131 is a list of cemetary lots: Lot 2-Block 23 1/2 a lot Owner Anna Cady Burials: Infant daughter of Thadeus and Martha Slider and granddaughter of Anna Cady. --- Also, I had mentioned seeing the Cade last name in a cemetary in/near Eloy, AZ. Hello all, Summer is winding down here in Michigan--we've had some awfully severe storms, three in a row, with tornados, very unusual this time of year. A tree fell on our travel trailer and there were many "sighs" and "oh wells"-- insurance is taking care of it. My recent heart trouble turned out to be a problem with regulating the beats and I'm doing much better, even though I just began the medication. I encourage you all to post any Cady names and tidbits you come across. We never know where these might lead. Here is one taken from a hand-compiled book of Civil War Veterans of St. Clair County, Michigan: JAMES H. CADY, date of enlistment, Aug. 22, 1863; Co. C 11th Michigan Calvary; date of discharge, Sept. 22, 1865; date of death, March 31, 1909; Chattanooga Cemetery; rank, 2nd Master Sgt." Welcome to all new members! Unioin Publishing Company, Springfield, Ill., 1883: History of Hardin County, Iowa, Together with sketches of its towns, villages, and townships, educational, civil, military and political history; portraits of prominent persons, and biographies of representative citizens -- History of Iowa, embracing accounts of the pre-historic races, and a brief reivew of its civil, political, and miltary history. How's that for a book title! For you folks mentioning Michigan in connection with Cady families, this is taken from the Hardin Co. book: p 305. James F. Cady was born at Lamont, Ottawa county, Michigan, July 11, 1855. He is the oldest son of Pearly [sic] P. and Olive B. Cady. His father is a native of the State of New York; his mother, a daughter of Jeremiah Prescott, is a native of the State of Maine. . . . [James became a lawyer, but died 23 Feb. 1885 without having married. He is buried in Hubbard, Iowa.] p 883. P. P. [Perley Philip] Cady was born in Steuben county, New York, October 24, 1817. . . . In 1839 he moved to Oakland county, Michigan, and remained there about five years. From 1842 to 1851 he spent in the western part of Michigan, teaching at the Indian Mission, at the present site of Grand Rapids, excepting 1846 and 1847, which spent in Chicago, engaged in the lumber trade. In 1848 he was married to Miss Olive B. Prescott, a native of Maine. In 1851 he settled in Alamakee county, Iowa . . .. [P. P. and Olive are also buried in Hubbard, and all three share a head stone. This stone in incorrectly labeled "Preston" instead of "Perley", why or how, we don't know.] James' siblings were Ellen M., Jeremiah Judson, Jessie A., and Frank Prescott. The book also mentions an adopted daughter, Mary A. If anyone can plug into any of this info, lemme know. Maybe there is a relationship. :-) Betty Researching Bruna, Cady, Dobkowski (Dob), Fox (Fuchs), Gregonis (Gre/aygonis-UK, Grygonu), Hazard, Kawecki, Perlinski, Polk, Prescott, Von Derlick
>>Earlier, Suzanne and others were discussing whether there were Cady progenitors other than Nicholas. (Just got back after a month away from my computer, so I'm picking up threads here . . .) I tried this about a year ago, but I don't know if I mentioned it to this list: http://www.familyinfo.com then search for Cady I came up with James, Mary, Pierce, Richard, and Samual on the 1849 New Orleans Passenger Lists data base.
I have a priscilla Cady, any relation? GB
I just tried it and, on the second age, found a web site I hadn't seen before in YEARS of using Alta Vista and Yahoo. The website was the Ontario (NY) County Records office. They have a listing for land deed my great-great grandfather, Alexander Cady, made in 1839. I found this site(Ontario Co. NY) through the Family Tree Maker site. I found a Critchell family I have been looking for for years, in the wrong place of course. I sent in my $10.00,received a nice reply and copies of the 1850 and 1855 NY state census with my family of Critchells! This county site deserves some kind of an award!
