Born in Jackson County, Ill., on April 19, 1919, he was 81. He lived in Concord for 35 years (since 1965), having previously lived in San Francisco. He recently moved to Sacramento with his niece Lynne Ault-Lear. He was the loving husband of the late Lazette Allen Ault for 52 years. He retired in 1981 after 13 years as an appraiser for Contra Costa County. He was previously employed in San Francisco in the insurance business. He was a graduate of Stockton High School, class of 1937, and of UC Berkeley. He served as a B-17 navigator with the U.S. Army Air Corps 97th Bomb Group from 1941 to 1945 in England and North Africa, completing 50 missions. His hobbies included antique cars, stained glass and reading. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph E. and Renee Ault of El Macero; niece, Lynne Ault-Lear of Sacramento; nephew, Joseph P. Ault of Ukiah; six great-nieces and nephews, Scott Ault, Timothy Ault, Julee Lear Carden, Mark Lear, Jennifer Lear, Jamee Lear; and two great-great-nephews, Evan and Jack Carden.
