In looking at the site found a few pages that are from San Francisco and California. One was of women working at the Ghiratdelli Chocolate Factory, in San Francisco and other one is of posters and paintings of "Golden Girls: The California Gold Rush." There could be more about California, but have not checked the entire site. Also be sure to check the links under the full images, for more information, on what was happening at the time.     3. Hello lists, Earlier this year I followed everyone's advice and contacted the Oakland Library for an obituary look up. I sent them money, and they sent it back saying that they could not find an obituary for my people. The Oakland library searched the Oakland Tribune for 7 days after each person's death. I can't really believe that there was no obituary for these people. Can anyone suggest another possibility. Hilja Johnson, d. Jan. 22, 1986 in Contra costa Co.; lived in Berkeley, Alameda Co. She was 88 years old; maiden name was Mackie; husband: Oscar Johnson Oscar Johnson, d. July 14, 1980 in Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. He was 89 years old; wife: Hilja Mackie Johnson.
