I believe he was also born in that area. I am told that his mother was of Indian heritage. Her name could be Mary Anderson or possibly have been related to some Tennels somewhere along the line. After his arrest, Leonard Lake killed himself in San Francisco. The following was taken from "The Stockton Record" June 1985. "Lake took his own life Thursday after his arrest in San Francisco on June 2. He left behind only a note to his ex-wife which said 'I love you. Please forgive me. I forgive you. Please tell Mama Fern and Patty (two sisters) im sorry." During the search for evidence, and Ng's trial, many articles were written about Lake and Ng. The Calaveras County Archives has two very fat folders on Ng. No folder on Lake. I doubt that there is an obit on Lake in the file, but there was a lot written about him. If you want copies of the material they have collected, they charge twenty-five cents a page, plus postage. Because the folders are very thick, they might also charge for the time it takes to copy the files. If you make a request for material, you can limit the amount you are willing to pay. There were so many articles and books written on these two guys, that you may find it easier to go to your library.
