Hi All, Any additional info on the CABLE's & WALKER's would be appreciated. Edward CABLE dates of birth/death & place unknown Bridget MITCHELL who immigrated to the US from IRELAND at the age of 18 and married Edward in the US. I know of 2 children (twins), one being Mary Elizabeth CABLE b.8 Dec 1842 in New Milford CT. Edward CABLE worked for the railroad. In 1853 he "decided he could make more money and give his family more advantages" if he moved west. So he did. The family traveled by covered-wagon from CT to somewhere near Galesburg IL at 10 to 15 miles a day. Mary (my ggrandmother who told this story to my uncle) was sick almost the entire trip and for a good part of the trip they feared for her life. After numerous adventures Mary CABLE wound up teaching school in Keosauqua IA, where she met and married 1 Jan 1866 Ransom WALKER (also a twin) b.15 Mar 1842 Mt Pleasant IA. Ransom WALKER and Mary Elizabeth CABLE had 9 children from 1866 to 1887 in Iowa & Nebraska. Mary CABLE passed away 11 Jan 1933 at 91 yrs of age in Lincoln NE and buried in Utica NE.
