    1. [CABLE-L] Cable Family-Rockcastle Co, KY
    2. Hello, all, I'm new to the mailing list, so would like to introduce our Cable family line. My husband's maternal great-great grandmother was Emily Jane Cable, born May 28, 1853 in Kentucky. Her parents were H. O. (most likely Henry Owsley) and Elizabeth (Ramsey) Cable. Henry Owsley Cable was born 1830 in Kentucky and married Elizabeth Ramsey on March 24, 1852. He died 1914 in Rockcastle Co, KY. Emily married James K. Thompson, also from the Rockcastle Co, KY area, on Oct 3, 1870. Several years later they moved to Montgomery Co, IN, near Waynetown, where they lived until their deaths. We would be interested in learning more about this family. Thank you for any help you can give. Sue Sablic Indiana Sablics@aol.com

    1. [CABLE-L] James Franklin Cable
    2. Mary Watkins
    3. Hi, I trace my Cable roots back to 1821 in New York probably Attica. My gg grandfather was James Franklin Cable born 29 May 1821. As a young man actually a teenager he came to Michigan with his uncle Alva and they were the first white men on Beaver Island which is located in Lake Michigan. They were fishermen and traders. James came back to the island and settled and his eldest son Claude Cable was born there in or around 1849. They were driven from the island sometime before 1853 by the Mormon sect founded on the island by James Strang. James' second child, a daughter was born in St. Charles Illinois. Her name was Maude and she was my great grandmother. If anyone on the list has any information about this Cable family I would love to see it. Thanks, Mary

    1. [CABLE-L] William Cable
    2. G & K Ripco
    3. My ancestors name was William Cable. He was born in 1803 in England. (Yorkshire, I believe). His first marriage was to a woman named "Eliza" in England and they had the following children: John William Cable (1826-1888) m. Mary Elizabeth Church James Cable ( - 1889) m. Adesimer Wilson Amelia Cable (1831-1908) m. Nathaniel Hawley Annie Cable Joseph Cable (1819- ) Sometime around 1833 William emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario Canada. He seemingly left his children behind in England. He married Charlotte Albright Pomeroy Weir, and they had one son, Wesley Cable, who is my ancestor. They eventually settled in Saltfleet, Ontario, where William died in 1859. William worked as a blacksmith, and was also well known in the area as a Methodist exhorter. If anyone has any knowledge of this family, I would appreciate any information. Thank you, Kathy

    2. Robert L. Ward
    3. Hello, CABLE Researchers! I descend from the Connecticut CABLE family. My ancestor is Tamson CABLES, b. 17 Feb 1764 (family record), who m. 18 Nov 1782, Smithtown, LI, NY, Isaac BOSTWICK. Their children were Mary, Hanford, Hannah, Sarah, Clarissa, Thomas, Jared, Anne, Hiram, and Jane BOSTWICK. I believe her to be a daughter of Jabez-5 and Mary (DENBO) CABLE [George-4, John-3, John-2, John-1] of Fairfield, Westport, and Weston, CT, and St. John, NB, Canada. I lack proof of this connection. I seek any information on Jabez-5 CABLE above. I can offer information on the early Connecticut CABLE family, from many different sources. Regards, Robert Robert L. 3. I am a new subscriber to the Cable list and the following is my Cable line: My mother was Mary Cable Jones who was a daughter of Daniel Rufus Cable, b. 1873, of Guilford Co., N. C. He was a son of Lewis Cable (Baptised Ludwig Gabel & b. 1823 in Orange Co. N.C.) Lewis Cable was the son of Jacob b. Orange Co. N.C. 1801. Jacob was son of Anthony believed to be the son of John Cable (Johannes Gobell) and born in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh co. Penna. on June 30, 1768. Anthony and his brother John are shown in Daniel Schumacher's Baptismal Register. The father of Anthony and John, who was John Cable, filed a claim for a land grant in Orange Co. N. C. in 1779. If anyone is researching this line, I would appreciate hearing from you. I am very interested in any information available on my line in Pennsylvania and back to Germany. Thanks Daniel Jones

I have found, in my own CABLE searching, that the family was a large one, with first names being repeated frequently. I am not aware of any CABLE family bible or other vital records for the early CABLES, except for a will & probate for Philip CABLE, husband of Maria BRADY. As for my own direct line, there are some specific unresolved questions. For example, my line is: 1 Philip (Filbs) (Kebell, Köbell) Cable b. c.1700/1710 Wittgenstein, Palatinate, Germany d. AFT 29 JAN 1780 Warrington Twp, York Co, PA m. Maria (Mary) Brady b. 1697 Wittgenstein, Palatinate, Germany 2 Jacob Cable b. c.1729-32 Switzerland or PA, USA d. 1816 Jefferson Co, OH ? m. 1750 MD Mary Christina Walker b. 24 MAY 1793 MD d. c.1816 Jefferson Co, OH (There are different versions as to who Jacob married, as well as whether jacob CABLE, father of John Martin CABLE (below) was in fact the son of Philip CABLE + Maria BRADY.) (Also, in Two Centuries of Brothersvalley, there are different references to Jacob, leaving room for some confusion). 3 John Martin Cable b. 15 NOV 1750 Franklin Co, PA d. 06 JUL 1812 Dayton, Montgomery Co, OH m. c.1768/73 Bedford Co, PA Christiana Mary (Repley, Rampley) Ripley b. 30 OCT 1752 d. 1823 Montgomery Co, OH (John Martin CABLE's wife is a question as well. Most researchers have her as Christiana Mary [or Mary Chrtistiana] RAMPLEY / RIPLEY / REPLEY. I do not know her parents' names. Other researchers show his wife as Mary Christina WARNER. There are several CABLE wives with the first name Mary, with similar last names.) 4 Martha Magdalena Cable b. 27 NOV 1783 (Cambria Co, PA) or (MD) ? d. 16 JUN 1867 Athens Co, OH m. 08 AUG 1797 Black Lick Twp, Indiana Co, PA Christopher (Harrold) Herrold b. 01 MAR 1777 Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA d. 25 AUG 1823 Beaumont, Ames Twp, Athens Co, OH (Christopher HERROLD = my direct line) m. 23 NOV 1823 Athens Co, OH Silas (Sylas) Bingham b. 24/29 JUL 1758 Salisbury, Litchfield Co, CT d. 15 MAY 1840 Dover Twp, Athens Co, OH m. 15 JAN 1846 Athens Co, OH John Jackson b. 31 AUG 1790 ? d. 27 NOV 1867 ?
