    1. [CAAMADOR-L] Something interesting

    3. Hi...saw something interesting tonight. A family is staying with me for a month & their son is in the 4th grade. Tomorrow his class is going gold panning. They have to have gold pans, metal pie pans to eat from, he's got a straw hat, root beer (supposed to take place of sasspharla) (?) The teacher is really trying to make this a history lesson. What is so interesting is: they were all given original checks from the Bank of Amador. His is a check from April 1918 to George W. Lucot from the Keystone Mine in the amount of $302.00. On the back is stamped "George Lucot, tax collector". I told him that he better have his mom put the check away in archival plastic as that would be a treasure to keep. Hope all the other kids realize how great that little piece of paper is. Jackie in Jackson
