    2. Good morning everyone! With almost a new eye, I found those blinkly blank notes. I will have to call Ms. Mendez, to find out more. But I led you all astray! :( sorry, sorry, sorry. IPeter was born in Zoagli, Italy. Peter and his wife Catherine came to SF sometime after their first daughter was born in Virginia in 1861. I have a lot of info on Peter and his wife. Still trying to determine exactly when they arrived in SF. I have found no info so far of them in Virginia. Both Peter and Catherine naturalized. (?) They were living in SF up and until the earthquake and fire, gathered up their finances and retired to Santa Clara, living with a daughter and her husband MENDEZ. Peter died 1910, there. And Catherine died in Oakland, but is buried with Peter. (that is the short story) It was a surprise to me to learn that Peter had a brother. Ok, according to my notes, brother was Charles. He went to Santa Clara State, in the 1800's graduated and became an attorney. He practiced in Amador County. His Grandson John ran the National Hotel. That could be the guy in the obit. John I am told also worked in the Goldfields in Sutter Creek. I think it is Charles we are looking for. So maybe Peter had more family that arrived with him in SF. In a census search we started with the year 1880. Peter and Catherine already had children, one of whom born in Virgina, 1861. Their second born 1867 in California. I wish I had more to go on. Any how you all have been wonderful. Would still like to find out if the Hotel was handed down or sold. And since I don't know when Charles died don't know how to follow that one up, without more info. Jean Hehn Colorado
