You got it right on Lee. Down below is below the county line. And when "the city" was mentioned it was most always San Francisco. And, in the summers, a lot of the ranchers ran their cattle "in the high country", which would be up in the mountains. Used to be a big thrill when I was a kid to stay at my grandparents house in Pine Grove & see the cattle being driven up to the high country for the summer. These were DuFrene cattle. Traffic was nothing like it is now. You'd listen & listen & then in the far off distance you could hear a cowbell. And then pretty soon, lots of bells & mooing & the drivers doing their "keep it moving cow language". And then, there they'd be, cows & the cowboys on their horses. A sight I'll always remember.
