Donna...I thought weddings taking place from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. were misprints too. In one of my issues of papers there was a statement that, with the new team of horses & wagon that leaving from the Globe Hotel in Jackson at 6 a.m. one could arrive in Stockton by 3 p.m. Many of these newly married couples wanted to go "down below" or on to "the city" for their honeymoons, so by being married early in the morning they could make their carriage departure on time.
