Diana...know I've corresponded with you before on Wooster...don't know if this will help...on Clough...taken from Chispa, Tuolumne County Historical Society Quarterly Oct-Dec 1961: pg 13... in a list of do's & don't do's...."In 1853, Sonora again decided to set its house in order. Representing and reforming were in the air. City Ordinance was passed to raise the tone of "the Street." ...all houses of ill-fame with in the limits of this city shall keep their fron doors closed or have good and sufficient blinds or screens in front thereof...fine of not less than $50.00." Passed August 17, 1853 James P. Clough, Pres. of Council pg 21 In a list of Superintendents of Schools of Tuolumne County.. J. P. Clough 1854 Issue of April-June 1972 pg 387 (This is discussing what businesses there were on main street...also a picture) Several references to Clough...(middle name is Perry) These books were borrowed & they are being returned early tomorrow morning.
