On 23 Feburary 1852, Joseph BRIGNOLI of Boston, trader, born Parma in Italy o/a 25 Dec 1818, now about 33 years, arrived New York, New York o/a 25 Dec 1841 and intends to become a citizen of the US, renouncing Pius the 9th, Pope. (apparently Parma was in the Vatican territories). Naturalization record was harder to read, but was recorded 15 Oct 1854, witnesses: Bryan Martin and Michael Houghton. Naturalization in Circuit Court, Boston, District of Massachusetts: John RAGGIO, born Genoa Italy o/a 11 April 1834 and now about 33 years, arrived New York NY o/a (day not filled in) May 1842 then being a minor under 18 years; renouncing Victor Emanuel, King of Italy. Sworn 10 April 1867, wit: John A. Lunch and Michael Meade. (for those who came to the US before their 18th birthdays, a statement of intent was not required)
