Hi Jean: Sutter Hill is located just North of Jackson and South of Sutter Creek on highway 49. the towns of Jackson and Sutter Creek are 2 miles apart on highway 49. Heading North it goes like this Jackson, Martell, Sutter Hill, Sutter Creek. Sutter Hill is not incorporated just a name for an area on highway 49 where it crosses the Ridge Road. The people who live at Sutter Hill have Sutter Creek for their post office address. Everyone who lives at Martell has Jackson for their post office address. James Vicini probably died at Sutter Hill and it was reported in the Stockton Independent. The local newspaper did not report all of the births, marriages, or deaths which occurred.
