Posted on: Amador County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ca/Amador/10443 Surname: Crail, Sheridan ------------------------- Lancha Plana (flat boat or ferry) was located on Mokolumne River in Amador Co. from approx 1849 to late 1950's-early 1960's when site was covered with water from Lake Comanche built by East Bay SMUD Co. for power & water for bay area. My ancestors mined,worked as laborers, ran harness shop,did blacksmithy and later as farmers.My Grandfather who loved to swim would go down the river to Lodi. Some of those pioneers now are in Ione Catholic and Ione Public Cemetary in Ione,Ca. To get to Ione take 99 S. from Sac go East on Twin Cities Rd. past Rancho Seco to Ione. From Ione go to Buena Vista and somewhere on the n. shore is supposed to be a landmark where the town once stood looking out on an inlet on the Lake.(I hav't been there yet.)
