Hi, His death cert should list his mother's maiden name. I just got one from San Francisco for my great grandmother and I learned her mother, who I only knew before as Mary, wife of John Fields, was actually Mary Devlin. The death cert I have is from 1930. It shows birthplaces of mother and father city or town and state or country. On my ggmothers it only has the country(ies) of birth of her parents(Ireland), not a town (rats!) but perhap if their birth was US it might say both. It also lists length of residence of the decedent in CA as well as how long in US if of foreign birth, plus the decedents date and place of birth. It also says the marital status of the decedent as well as their spouse's name if married, widowed or divorced. That ought to be able to answer many of your questions Good luck, Mary On Tue, 1 Aug 2000 17:03:39 EDT IttyBkShp@aol.com writes: > Hello list, I am new to this group and have high hopes.
