Here is a great example of a screwup of an obit for my great-grandfather from 1938. The first is the incorrect version. The following is another obit for him done correctly the following week with no mention of the previous obit being wrong. Keep in mind my great grandfather's name was James Monroe Bridges. The surviving relatives are a wife, daughter Sarah Ann Isbelle of Arizona, sons Garland of Nevada, George of Nevada, Clyde of Grass Valley and Charles Jr. of this city. Bridges Dies of Heart Attack James M. Bridges passed away at his home in Amador City, Monday, June 6. He was born in Arkansas and had resided in this state for seven years. While here he operated the Texaco Service Station in Amador City for the past several months. Although he had been in failing health for several months, he was just bedfast for a week previous to his death. Mr. Bridge (typo on the last name) had many friends in this county who were saddened by his death. Left to mourn aare a wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Jane Isabelle of Arizona; four sons, George of Dutch Flat; Garland of Colusa; Clyde of Grass Valley and Charles of this city. Funeral services were held from the J.J. Daneri and Son Chapel in Jackson with interment in the Jackson City Cemetery.
