Ron, Nova Scotia means new Scotland, and most of its people were scotch, the prior were French. If any of you genealogist want a good read that is very very informative read albions seed. Albion being the first name for England, meaning white cliffs. it tells you things like that the puritans were from east England and thought they were the chosen few and married between them self's, and settled in mass. and new jersey, upper jersey, and the Virginians were upper class from west England and were the second sons of the very rich and knew that they would not inherit the land at home so they brought there money and settled Virginia which most of the land belonged to about 25 families in early 1700-1800 and also married between the other rich families, and that the PA. area called the Delaware valley was settled by Quakers and Welsh on land given to William Penn for debts owing his father a big navy commander who was raised in Ireland but was English and cousin of Berkley who was governer of Virginia. and that the Quakers were run out of Virginia and mass, also many of the PA. residents were Germans brought by Penn on his recruiting trips for the Quakers,Most o! f the Quakers were English of Mormon and French decent from northern England, Not all Penn. people were Quakers but were Quaker friendly , and got along very well, PA. was 75% Quaker in the 1700-1800 , this is a wonderful book and a must for genealogist and people trying to find what part of great Britain there families came from, sorry for getting carried away.
