    1. [CAAMADOR] Am Back!!
    2. Hello Everyone! We had a wonderful time on our vacation! We went to Placerville, Sutter Creek, Jackson and Calaveras. Mostly we just drove around Placerville and walked main street. Sutter Creek is beautiful. We found the Catholic Cemetery and took pictures of the Vicini grave sites. One of the things that I discovered was that the name on John B. Vicini's tomb was G.B. Vicini. In past things that I have sent to you all, its a mix of John B. and Giovanni depending on the writer of the document. I went to the Amador County Archives which is located under the Court room. Remember when I sent the latest on Charles Peter Vicini and it discribed the hotel that John bought? Well, in the book Logans Alley Vol.II, By Larry Cenotto he describes the transaction between E.B.Moore and Giovanni B. Vicini. And, Giovanni bought it in 1875 and in 1893 Vicini opened a hotel in his building, named Vicini's rather than Sutter Creek Hotel. He sold it to Moore of Calaveras County in 1896. I got an 8x10 glossy repro picture of the County Officials standing on the Court House steps. Dated 1902-1906. Those on the steps were: A. Caminetti Sr., Ed Key, Geo. Garden, Fisher, C.P. Vicini, Leota Huberty, Geo. Gritton, Sheriff Norman and Judge Rust. We stayed over night in Jackson. Very pleasant, I could have stayed longer. Beautiful place. BUT, the heat got to me. So the next trip will be in April or May. We drove down to Calaveras, and arrived on Wed. closed on Wed, but did go to the Historical Society and they had forms for research to fill out for and to be given to Mrs. Kennedy at the Archives. We arrived home in time for snow. It snowed all night, but it is gone now. It cooled down the night after we left CA. Now that it has cooled down, wish I was there!! Jean Hehn

    2. Rev. N. R. Peck, who years ago was located in Amador County, died at Pacific Grove last Tuesday. He was a pioneer and one of the best known Methodist preachers on the Coast. Mrs. Mary Anderson, who met her brother, Sergeant Will S. Horton, at Sacramento and accompanied him to Sutter Creek, where she has been visiting with her sister, Mrs. Maggie Shealor, will leave in a few days to join her husband at Redlands, where they will hereafter reside.

The first was Eliza A. Satchwell. From that marriage four children were born: Sarah A. He married Harriet "Hattie" "Nam" ANDERSON on October 2, 1887 in Hayden Hill, Lassen county, California. Mariah F. DILLON, born about 1864 in California. Reuben's second wife was Mary Margaret BRICE (married December 2, 1872 in Plymouth, Amador county, California.) Eight children resulted from that marriage: Claude E. 2. Bill Hull
    3. Posted on: Amador County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ca/Amador/302 Surname: SHARP, SHARPE ------------------------- Seek any info on Giles Sharp, born in New York State about 1834, apparent son of Epenetus Sharp and Betsey ----- of Massena, St. Lawrence County. 1870 census (almost illegible) shows Giles, 35, Lucinda, 28, and Samuel, 7, in Sutter Creek, Amador County. Index also shows a "C. Sharpe" and a Betsey Sharp in same area, but I was unable to read the faded record. Giles apparently had a brother, Charles, and a sister, Caroline.

    3. Posted on: Amador County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ca/Amador/301 Surname: SHARP, SHARPE ------------------------- If by any chance you have info on Giles Sharp who appears on 1870 census of Sutter Creek, I would be very interested. The census record is so faded I can't read much of it, but I saw enough to be fairly certain that this person is part of my Sharp family in New York State - an apparent son of Epenetus Sharp.
