Posted on: Amador County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ca/Amador/365 Surname: Messmore, Peyton, Payton ------------------------- Bertha Messmore (ca. 1890) was married to George W. Peyton (ca. 1869). The children I know about are: Bertha Peyton, Doris Jeanne Peyton, and Della Ann Peyton. I'm thinking there were more (via Calif. Birth Records)--were there? George Peyton was a cousin to my Mom's father, also from Amador County. I have very little information, so if you have more, I'd love to hear it! Thanks! JoEllen Ringhand

In a message dated 1/8/2001 3:01:41 AM Pacific Standard Time, ITALY-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: Hi Everyone I thought that this information could be of use to those of us researching our ancestors in Italy---Carol << For others who don't speak Italian and are examining Italian Baptismal records from mid-1800s, I was finally able to have them explained and will share my information. My search of records showed 2 kinds of forms in my ancestors town of Locana: The older form had a line with(for example) figlio di :Giacomo di Giovanni, e fu Maria Elisabetta Perelli de professione: contadina domiciliata in: Locana e d : Maria Teresa fu Bartolomeo Noacono, e fu Maria Luisa Giachini de professione: contadina domiciliata in: Locana This line with "e d" was confusing to me. It was explained that the line with figlio tells us the child's father's name is Giacomo, son of Giovanni and Maria Elisabetta. The child's mother is Maria Teresa, daughter of Bartolomeo and Maria, which gives info on another generation preceding. The newer baptismal records(1865+) have the line "figlio d Giovanni Varda del morte Giacovanni" "e della Maria Teresa Noascono del fu Bartolomeo" which means the child listed is son of Giovanni Varda(whose father is the deceased Giovanni) and Maria Teresa Noascono(whose father is Bartolomeo). Thanks to those who attempted help off-line. Hope this explanation helps others who are struggling. The films ordered from the LDS have really helped me sort out the families and their children. 3. Hello all...I'm on a new tack & wondering if any of your Amador ancestors could tie into my names? This is what I have... (Most of these people were located in Jackson until possibly 1923) Sultana Jane WHITE was daughter of George WHITE (Djuro SQUIRTZA, SKVRCE) Sultana WHITE married first Charles Franklin GOSS & had two children: George Franklin GOSS & James Leslie GOSS Charles died in a 1904 Argonaut Mine accident & Sultana then married John Jewell MITCHELL It appears that Sultana & John moved to Woodland in Yolo Co., where she died in 1954 & John died in 1948. Sultana had two sisters, Henrietta WHITE FORD& Katie WHITE (who died without marrying), and two brothers Thomas WHITE & James WHITE. In Mrs. George WHITE's obit, 1923, there are 3 children living: Sultana, Thomas, & Henrietta. Henrietta WHITE FORD (whose husband's name was Melvin FORD) had at least two children, Melvin & Mildred,(who died somewhere Feb. 3, 1999 & is buried in Jackson Catholic cemetery)(could not find obit for her in Jackson newspaper). Am looking for a lead on the possible whereabouts of Melvin FORD & his descendants & any descendants of James GOSS. Thanks for your help. Jackie in California kimmee@volcano.net

    3. Hello All, I hope you are having a nice holiday. It was sad to hear of Pat's death, early on she was a great help to me and my genealogy research. Earlier this week I was cleaning the garage, and found a autograph book that was my mothers. To my surprise I saw that the autographs were signed in Jackson. My mother was born in Vallejo, and I did not know she had left Vallejo in her childhood. The dates in the book are 1931 & 32. Does anyone know any of the following persons who signed the book ?? Louise Nettle, Marie Freitas, Phoebe Lambert, George & Fanny Bonnefay, Norma Kurer. My mothers name is Kristine Carslund, or maybe Kristine Lawrence. Thank You and Happy New Year, 2k1 ...Art...

    1. [CAAMADOR] Fw: Merry Christmas Genealogy Style
    2. In a message dated 12/17/2000 9:33:13 AM Pacific Standard Time, Merry Christmas Everyone.... Carol << Happy Holidays Everyone.... Marla Genealogist's Christmas Eve (Twas the Night Before Christmas) by Unknown 'Twas the night before Christmas When all through the house Not a creature was stirring, Not even my spouse. The dining room table with clutter was spread With pedigree charts and letters which said... "Too bad about the data for which you wrote; Sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and such Were proof that my work had become too much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop >From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. Had I not been busy with grandparents' wills, I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills, While others bought gifts to bring Christmas cheers, I'd spent time researching those birth dates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright/Away to the window I flew in a flash, Tore open the drapes and yanked up the sash. When what with my wondering eyes should appear, But an overstuffed sleigh and with eight small reindeer. Up to the house top the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys and 'lo Santa Claus, too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs, As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa--KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa had come from the roof in a wreck, And tracked soot on the carpet, (I could wring his short neck!) Spotting my face, good 'lo Santa could see I had no Christmas spirit you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings, (I felt like a jerk.) Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy: When I'd been too busy for even one toy. He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist!" He cried! (My face was all red!) "Tonight I've met many like you," Santa grinned, As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amusement--the cover it read Genealogy Lines for Which You Have Plead. "I know what it's like as a genealogy bug." He said as he gave me a great Santa hug. "While the elves make the sleighful of toys I now carry, I do some research in the North Pole Library! A special treat I am thus able to bring, To genealogy folk who can't find a thing." "Now off you go to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess." As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle, To his team, which then rose like the down of a thistle. And I heard his exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family history is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!" Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Lois Burdick >>
